M.K. Stalin to become Chief Minister; Stalin set to take oath on Friday

Chennai: The DMK government led by MK Stalin, who won the coup in Tamil Nadu, will take the oath on Friday. DMK President M.K. Stalin will be Chief Minister. The oath will be simplified by the strong spread of the covid.
The DMK has a single majority in the 234 – member assembly. This was the first election held after the demise of the Karunanidhi.

Congress, MDMK, VCK, Left parties, etc fronts were also on the DMK side. Exit polls suggest DMK wins a two-thirds majority. 

Strict restrictions in the state until Sunday

No one will be allowed to leave the house unnecessarily from Tuesday. Police will inspect all vehicles entering the road. The police have been directed to register a case under the Disaster Management Act against those violating the regulations prescribed by the authorities.

Strict restrictions on attending weddings and funerals. Clothing stores, jewelers, and barbershops will not be open. Autos, taxis, and trucks are essential only. These will also be checked by the police. Those going to work in private companies have to show their identity card.

Unnecessary travel is not allowed. Crowds are not allowed in closed spaces. Shops selling milk, vegetables, groceries, fish, and meat can be opened. Maximum door delivery is required.

Open 24 hours a day to companies and businesses. Employees must show identity cards.

Traders at vegetable and fish markets should keep a distance of 2 meters, which can be used to sell home-delivered fish. Wear 2 masks and gloves if possible. Can only work for hospitals, media houses, telecom, IT, milk, newspaper distribution, water supply, and electric-related companies. Covid vaccination centers are not barred. Home delivery to hotels and restaurants only.

Kerala Congress (B) Chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai passed away

Kottarakara: Veteran politician and Kerala Congress (B) Chairman, former Minister R. Balakrishna Pillai (86) passed away. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kottarakkara on Monday.

Doctors gave age-related ailments, mainly respiratory illness, as the cause of death. Mr. Pillai was ailing since Friday. He was placed on ventilator support and administered supplemental oxygen. The end came at 3 a.m.

He is the founder General Secretary of the Kerala Congress. Entered the Legislative Assembly in 1960 at the age of twenty-five. He served in Excise, Transport, and Electricity Departments.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 5 p.m. Wife late R Valsala. Children: Former Minister and film star MLA Maya KB Ganesh Kumar, Usha Mohandas, Bindu Balakrishnan. Children: Bindu Ganesh Kumar, Mohandas, P. Balakrishnan.

Left Front ensures continued rule in Kerala; BJP loses three seats

Thiruvananthapuram: Left Front ensures continued rule in Kerala. The LDF won a historic victory in this Assembly election. The LDF completely dominated 11 districts. It is currently leading in 99 constituencies. The UDF movement is only in 41 places. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Minister KK Shailaja, KT Jalil and TP Ramakrishnan also won. Counting of votes for the assembly elections in Kerala began at 8.00 am along with Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the union territory of Puducherry.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has won a historical second term bucking the four-decade-long trend of voting out incumbents in Kerala. Voting for the Kerala Assembly Elections was held on April 6.The voter turnout of 74.20%. Number of seats in the four states and 1 UT are as follows: Assam (126), West Bengal (294 seats), Tamil Nadu (234 seats), Kerala (140 seats) and Puducherry (30 seats).

Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) will end up convincingly winning in West Bengal, while challenger Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could fall way below its expected number of seats (elections were held in 292 constituencies). In a major victory, chief minister Mamata Banerjee defeated by Suvendu Adhikari in his bastion Nandigram.

In Tamil Nadu, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham (DMK) is well ahead of the incumbent All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham (AIADMK), the latter is holding its own in some pockets, clearly avoiding the rout that had been expected in a state. Besides, Kamal Haasan of the Makkal Needhi Maiam is leading in Coimbatore.

In Assam, the ruling BJP-led NDA is surging ahead of the Grand Alliance spearheaded by the Congress in Assam, leading in 76 and one of the 122 seats, trends available on the Election Commission website. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal exuded confidence that the saffron party-led alliance will retain power in the state.

In Puducherry also eventually abandoned the Congress. In the NDA alliance, Rangaswamy’s NRC won nine seats and the BJP four. The BJP contested five seats here. AIADMK, which contested in five seats, could not win any seats.

Oommen Chandy won in the Puthuppally

Kochi: UDF candidate Oommen Chandy wins in Puthuppally. He won by 7,476 votes. LDF’s Jaik C of Thomas is in second place.

Manarkat is a panchayat with a large majority of the Yakobaya faction. Jacobites have extended support for Jaik C Thomas here.

Chandy has a majority with 27,092 votes in the last Assembly elections.

Covid restrictions to continue in Jammu and Kashmir; Curfew extended

Srinagar: Covid restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir will continue. Authorities said the curfew was extended until May 6. The decision comes in the wake of increasing Covid expansion. The first decision was to lift the curfew tomorrow. It was later extended.

The curfew is in the Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, and Jammu areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The final decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.

Manoj Sinha said the Covid curfew was in force in all municipalities and urban wards and a total of 20 districts. He added that the night curfew is from 8 pm to 7 am. Covid confirmed 3,832 cases in Kashmir in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of cases to 1,79,915.

Night curfew in Assam extended till May 7

Guwahati: The Central Election Commission (CEC) has extended the night curfew till May 7 to control the people in connection with the elections in Assam. The decision is that the restrictions will continue until next Saturday. Strict control is in place from 8 pm to 5 am. All shops are expected to close by 6 p.m.

The BJP won a total of 126 seats in the Assam Assembly, winning 88 seats. The Congress won 22 seats and the others 14 seats.

Karnataka eases curfew

Bangalore: Curfew has been eased in Karnataka. Fruit and vegetable shops, which are essential items, can be open till 6 pm. Grocery stores are allowed to open up to 12. Strict restrictions were imposed in the state till May 12. Earlier it was reported that shops selling other essentials would only be open from 6 am to 10 am. At the time, it was clear that there would be no public transportation.

People should strictly follow the instructions in the context of Covid expansion. Shops should not allow more people to enter at the same time. CBSE Guideline for awarding marks for Class X examinations has been issued

New Delhi: The CBSE has issued guidelines for schools to give marks for Class X examinations which have been canceled in the wake of the covid expansion. 20 out of 100 internal marks for each subject. The remaining 80 will be given based on various examinations conducted in a year.

The marks in the Class X board examinations should be commensurate with the performance of the previous years of the school. The results will be published on June 20.

Covid; Complete lockdown in Tamil Nadu today

Chennai: A complete lockdown today in Tamil Nadu in the wake of the Covid expansion. The parties instructed not to hold joyous demonstrations in the wake of the election results.
