Director and Bigg Boss Malayalam winner Akhil Marar has lashed out against online media channels and YouTubers for their insensitive coverage during the funeral of legendary actor Salim Kumar. Marar’s statement comes in the wake of widespread trolling faced by several film personalities, particularly actor Tini Tom, who attended the final rites.

Expressing his anger, Akhil Marar stated, “These toxic online media groups must be controlled. When I warned Tini Tom about this a year ago in his capacity as an AMMA official, he looked down upon my advice with contempt. Today, time has returned it with tears.”

Marar strongly emphasized that human privacy must be respected at all costs. He demanded that the government and judiciary intervene to implement strict regulations and legal boundaries for online media platforms. He urged for proper licensing and accountability to stop channels from exploiting personal tragedies for views and clicks.

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has issued a show-cause notice to actress and former Joint Secretary Ansiba Hassan over her recent public statements against the organization and its office-bearers. The association has demanded a written explanation from the actress by June 17.

According to the notice, Ansiba’s public allegations have tarnished the reputation of the association and adversely affected its smooth functioning. AMMA stated that the issues could have been resolved internally within the organization’s framework, but raising accusations in the public domain violates its bylaws. The association warned of strict disciplinary action if her response is not submitted on time or is found unsatisfactory.

The controversy escalated shortly after Ansiba resigned from her post as Joint Secretary citing personal reasons. Following her resignation, she leveled serious allegations against fellow actor and executive member Tini Tom. This, along with public disagreements over the sponsorship of AMMA’s family gathering, ultimately prompted the association to take formal action.
