Thiruvananthapuram: The counting of votes in the Assembly elections is in progress. According to the first results, LDF is leading in the state.  The counting of votes in the state started at 8 am today. The first results started arriving around 10 am. Electronic voting machines started counting from eight in the morning.

The first round of voting was completed in the morning. Electronic voting machines will be counted before noon. But with the victory of the smaller majority, the votes will still be counted. There are over 4,000 to 5,000 votes in 106 constituencies in the state. In such a case, the result may be delayed.

The counting of postal votes began at 8 in the morning. It takes 40 seconds to count one ballot. Total ballots can be counted in seven to eight hours. The decision of the Election Commission is as follows: There are seven tables in a hall. Up to three halls are arranged per constituency.21 Booth votes can be counted in one round.

Pathanamthitta: The Election Commission’s Voter Helpline mobile app for the public to know the election results in real-time. The Voter Helpline app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. The results are also available on the website results.eci.gov.in.

The counting of votes will be available from 8 am on May 2. The app has the facility to know the states separately and the candidate separately.

NIC-led media centers will be set up in five constituencies and counting centers in the Pathanamthitta district. District Informatics Officer Gigi George said a district-level media center would also be set up at the collectorate.

New Delhi: The lockdown has been extended in Delhi, where the covid expansion is rampant. The lockdown in Delhi has been extended for another week after oxygen shortages, increased covid and increased deaths. The Delhi High Court on Monday slammed the central government while considering the petitions of Batra Hospital and others in the oxygen crisis.

New Delhi: Eight people have died in Delhi due to lack of oxygen again. Several people, including a doctor, who was being treated at Batra Hospital, died due to lack of oxygen. The death occurred between 12 noon and 1.30 pm today, hospital officials told the Delhi High Court. The High Court directed that the medical records of all the hospitals in Delhi, including the Central Government, be made available immediately.

The court has been seeking information since April 1. Information such as oxygen stock, number of patients admitted, death, and number of beds should be produced. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has blamed the Center for the oxygen crisis. With 976 tonnes of oxygen required daily, the Center allows only 490 tonnes. Only 312 tonnes were delivered yesterday. Arvind Kejriwal also asked how the crisis would be resolved in this case.

Washington: The United States has announced a waiver of the ban on travelers from India in the wake of the covid outbreak. Concessions have been announced for travelers in the categories of students, university teachers, and journalists. The exemptions were announced by US Secretary of State Tony Blinken.

The ban was imposed on passengers from May 4. Biden had explained that the situation was not right as there were several genetically modified variants of the covid 19 viruses in India. India has similar concessions to travel restrictions for travelers from Brazil, China, Iran, and South Africa. The exemption will be available to students starting winter classes, university teachers, journalists, and other individuals assigned to critical services in Covid-affected countries.

There will be no ration distribution due to software adjustments to be made. Delivery in May will begin at 6 p.m.

Gujarat hospital fire kills 18

Ahmedabad: The death toll from a fire at a hospital in Gujarat has risen to 18. The accident took place at a hospital in Bharuch this morning. About 50 patients who were undergoing treatment here were rescued by locals and firefighters, officials said.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of a four-story building.

Firefighters put out the blaze within an hour. The rest of the patients have been admitted to other hospitals.  Twelve of them died due to fire and smoke, reports said. Preliminary investigation shows the fire was caused because of a short circuit, police says. 

Lockdown may be declared in states with a high incidence of Covid disease; Union Ministry of Home Affairs

New Delhi: Central proposal to tighten control in states as Covid outbreak intensifies. The Union Home Ministry has demanded strict control till May 31. The districts or regions where the test positivity rate has increased by 10 percent in a week and 60 percent of Covid patients have been admitted to hospital beds can be declared as Containment Zones. The Center also suggested that states could declare a 14-day lockdown if the situation remains critical.

At the same time, the government has decided to tighten controls in the state. Similar restrictions will be imposed on the mini lockdown from next Tuesday to Sunday.

RTPCR test rate reduced; Order issued by the Department of Health

Thiruvananthapuram: The health department has issued an order reducing the RTPCR test rate in the wake of the rising incidence of Covid in the state. Private labs did not reduce the rates due to the non-receipt of the order. The order was issued reducing the test rate from Rs 1,700 to Rs 500.

Health Minister KK Shailaja said yesterday that the RTPCR test rate in private labs has been reduced from Rs 1,700 to Rs 500. The test rate was reduced based on the availability of ICMR approved test kits in the market at low cost.

Free vaccine for people over 18; The government issued the order

Thiruvananthapuram: An order has been issued to provide free vaccines to people between the ages of 18 and 45. In the third phase of the central government’s national vaccination policy, it was decided to vaccinate people between the ages of 18 and 45 from May 1, but it was not free. The order issued by Principal Secretary Rajan N Khobragade said that two doses of the vaccine would be given free of cost to those in this category, subject to the decision of the Supreme Court and the High Court in this regard.
