Vellore: The first train to Chennai with water left Kerala. The water received from Vellore Jolarpetta railway station on Friday morning. In the first phase, it goes with 2.5 million liters of water. Drinking water is served on a 50-wagon train. The second train will deliver more water.

The first water train will arrive at the Villivakkam railway station. Minister SP Velumani and officials will attend the event. Water can reach the city in at least five hours. The first train to reach water will be accepted under the leadership of Velumani. It takes about five hours to reach Villivakkam from Jolarpetta. The distance is about 204 km.

Railways charge Rs 8.5 lakh for one trip. It costs 34 paise per liter to deliver a liter. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated a total of Rs 65 crore for this purpose.

Currently, 50 million wagons deliver 2.5 million liters of water per trip to Chennai. Each wagon holds 55,000 liters of water.

Under the Vellore Fresh Water Supply Scheme, water is transferred to the wagons in the train by installing a 2.5 km pipe from the Mettuchakrakuppam tank near Jolarpetta.

Vikas Swarup has been appointed as Foreign Secretary of India

New Delhi: Diplomat Vikas Swarup has been appointed as Foreign Secretary. The Cabinet Appointments Committee has announced that Vikas will take charge on August 1.

Vikas, a 1986 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service is the Indian High Commissioner to Canada. Senior IFS officer San Jeev Arora will replace Vikas at the Embassy in Ottawa, Canada.

Vijay Keshava Gokhale is the current Foreign Secretary.

IS attacks; Inspection at Railway Stations

Palakkad: Following the IS attack possibility, major railway stations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu were inspected. The search was based on an intelligence report pointing to the possibility of an attack.

The railway police, along with the RPF, the dog squad and the bomb squad were inspected. They checked the parcels on the trains and the people who looked suspicious.

Intelligence reports have surfaced that the IS attacks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu will be followed by the attacks in Colombo on Easter Day. The railway stations and bus stands were being inspected at places where more and more people were arriving. A similar search has been carried out at railway stations again today.

The murder of RTI activist; Former BJP MP and six other accused get life term

New Delhi: Former BJP MP Dinu Boga Solanki sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering RTI activist Amit Jethwa. In addition to Dinu Solanki, the court also sentenced the six others found guilty to life imprisonment. The verdict has done by the Ahmedabad CBI court.

The charge sheet was filed against six accused in the probe by the Ahmedabad Detection Crime Branch. The accused were Shiv Solanki, Shailesh Pandya, Bahadur Sinh Wader, Panchan Ji Desai, Sanjay Chauhan, and Udaji Thackeray.

The Ahmedabad Detection Crime Branch had given a clean chit to Solanki in the probe and Jeshwa’s father had approached the High Court. The HC then handed over the case to the CBI. The court has ordered a re-trial after many of the witnesses alleged that the BJP was influencing witnesses in the case.

During the course of the trial, the HC found that 105 out of 195 witnesses had defected.

Solanki was accused by the CBI of taking over the case in 2013. Amit was shot dead by the Gujarat High Court in July 2010. Solanki was the MP from Junagadh at the time. Jethwa was killed after illegal mining in Gir forest was uncovered.

What if it a short film bagged more YouTube viewers? The short film Ranthal, which was made in Malayalam a year ago and uploaded to YouTube, is now crossing two crore views. The short film Directed by Sujit Govindan, the film stars Krishnan Balakrishnan, Sadhika Venugopal, and Balaji Sharma.

Ranthal is a 13-minute film that focuses on basic exploitation during the Emergency period. When asked about the success of the film, the director said: “usually sensational videos get more views. This is the picture which focuses on the challenges of below average people in the emergency.

”At first, we selected the house which suits to the theme of the film and made more changes to the house for perfection.

The old house which was kept as a storeroom for the coconut shell was converted to the old house, he said.

The location was in a place called Andhakaranazhi in Cherthala Taluk. The film was screened at Kerala International Documentary Short Film Festival. Young man killed by friends; Police arrested four

Kochi: Four persons were arrested in police custody for killing a young man and dumping him in the mud. Arjun was killed by four of his friends. The Arjun went missing from July 2 and in a search, the body was found near the railway station. Police arrested Arjun’s friends Ronnie, Nipin, Anandu, Ajith Kumar.

Arjun’s family filed a complaint that the Arjun was missing from July 2. Arjun’s family alleged that the police not taken any action on the complaint.

The Karnataka Congress leader was stopped from entering the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel by Mumbai Police today and his booking was also canceled.

Shivakumar held protest in front of hotel seeking a meeting with the liberal leaders.

Meanwhile, the BJP demand to dissolve the government. The Yeddyurappa with the BJP leaders meets Governor Vajubhai R Vala demanding this.

A journalist was shot dead in Pakistan

Karachi: A journalist in Pakistan’s Bol News news channel was shot dead in Pakistan on Tuesday. Murid Abbas was shot dead. Murid’s friend was also injured in the shooting. The incident took place outside a cafe in the Khayaban-e-Bukhari area. Police said financial problems led to the murder.

Atif Saman killed the Murid, police said. He was arrested by the police. After the assassination, the assailant shot himself in the chest while trying to commit suicide. The injured victim was taken to the hospital.
