Former Union Minister Arun Jaitley passes away

New Delhi: Former Union minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley (66) passes away. Jaitley’s life was kept alive with the help of a ventilator for more than a week.

He was admitted to the AIIMS this month due to shortness of breath. On the 13th he was transferred to the ventilator. At first, he responded to the treatments but later his health deteriorated.

Hospital officials said this morning that Jaitley’s life was fully supported by machines. On Saturday afternoon, Jaitley’s health deteriorated and he died. Jaitley, who had been a long-time active politician resigned from the Modi government following an illness.

A member of the Vajpayee and Narendra Modi government, Jaitley handled news broadcasts, law, company affairs, commerce, industry, defense, and finance. He became a Rajya Sabha member four times. He held the post of Rajya Sabha leader and opposition leader.

Lashkar e- Taiba Link; Keralites Woman in custody

Chennai: Police have taken into custody a woman who is suspected of having a link with a Malayalee in the Lashkar group. News reports that a woman has been taken into custody amid terror threats in the southern states. Investigations and interrogations are under the supervision of central agencies.

The Central Intelligence Agency had last week warned that six Lashkar-e-Taiba militants had infiltrated Tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka and settled in Coimbatore.
