Accident at Kamal Haasan’s shooting site; 3 killed, Shankar injured

Chennai: Three persons were killed in an accident last night while filming the new movie ‘Indian 2’ starring Kamal Haasan. The accident happened when a crane crashed into a shooting set in Poonamallee. Nine others including Shankar were injured. Kamal Haasan was on the set at the time of the incident.

The deceased are Krishna (34), Madhu (29) and Chandran (60). Shankar’s foot injury is said to be serious.

The accident occurred at 9.30 pm at the EVP Film City. The crane collapsed over tend caused the accident. The injured were taken to a hospital.

Avinashi Accident; The government will bear the cost of treatment and send 20 ambulances

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister KK Shailaja has said that the government will bear the cost of treating the KSRTC bus accident near Avinashi in Tirupur.

The minister said 20 ambulances have been sent to bring back the injured and the dead. Ten Kaniv 108 ambulances and ten other ambulances send to the spot. The Minister said that the injured persons would be brought to Kerala and treated.

The KSRTC Volvo Bus and Container from Bengaluru to Ernakulam collided. The accident has officially confirmed 20 deaths. All the dead are Malayalees. The driver and conductor of the bus died instantly. There were 48 passengers on the bus. All the injured have been taken to Avinashi District Hospital. Of these, 2 are in critical condition.

The driver of the container lorry surrender to the police, reports said.

Bengaluru: Kannada playback singer Sushmita found dead inside her house. The body was found hanging inside a house in Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Bengaluru this morning. Sushmita sent a WhatsApp message to her mother, who said she was going to die minutes before her death.

Relatives of Sushmita alleged that her husband was being harassed for demanding more dowry. Her husband is Sharad Kumar.

Sushmita hails from Mandya and has been active in the film industry for five years. Sushmita is best known for her hit songs such as Halu Thupa and, Srisamanya. The police registered a case and started an investigation.

Kejriwal was sworn in as Delhi chief minister for the third time

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal was sworn in as Delhi Chief Minister. Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal administered the oath of office and secrecy at Kejriwal’s swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan.

Manish Sisodia, Satyender Jain, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahloth, Imran Hussain and Rajendra Gautam were also sworn in as ministers. They were in the previous cabinet. For the third consecutive time, Kejriwal was appointed as the chief minister of Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited to the swearing-in ceremony but he did not attend. The Prime Minister is on a visit to Varanasi. No other state chief ministers and leaders have been called. The swearing-in the ceremony was attended by around 50 persons from various sectors who were responsible for the change in Delhi. They shared the stage with Kejriwal.

The Aam Aadmi Party welcomed the Delhi people with the slogan ‘Come and bless your son’. Eight BJP MLAs attended the function. The Aam Aadmi Party has won 62 out of 70 seats.

Sana: At least 30 people were killed in Saturday’s airstrike in Yemen. 12 people were injured. The attack took place in the foothills of the northern province of Yemen. Houthi militants have claimed that the attacks were carried out by Saudi-led warplanes.

Earlier, the Houthis had fired a fighter jet of Allied troops in Al Jwaf province.

With this, 68,000 people have been confirmed with the virus. China has said that 1,600 health workers have contracted the virus and six have died. WHO has expressed concern over coronavirus infection in China.

Meanwhile, a Chinese tourist died in France due to coronavirus. This is the first reported case of coronavirus death outside of Asia, French health minister Agnes Bazin said. He has been in Paris hospital since late January. The minister said the deaths were as a result of deteriorating health.

Encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh; one person was killed

Sukma: Encounter between the Naxals and the District Reserve Guard. The firing was in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred in a forested area adjoining the village of Arlampally near the Pollampalli police station limits.

The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the scene of the shooting. Also, the rifle and hand grenade were seized.

3G, 4G internet services ban in Kashmir extended till 24

Srinagar: The ban on 3G and 4G internet services in Jammu and Kashmir has been extended till the 24th of this month.

Authorities have said that some people are deliberately trying to break the peace in the valley and that is why the Internet has been extended.

But the current 2G services will continue. Only 1400 government-approved websites are available through 2G services. 2G services have been launched in Kashmir since the last 24th.

The Jammu and Kashmir Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a statement that people should not use the Internet in contravention of the state’s interests.

The 2G network services were launched on January 24, five months after the repeal of Article 370, which gave Kashmir a special status.
