Thiruvananthapuram: The SSLC and Plus Two examinations again rescheduled. The decision to extend the exam made at a meeting chaired by the chief minister. The exams will be held in June. The decision was made after the lockdown was extended. An updated date will be announced later.

Heavy Rain in the State; Yellow Alert in 13 districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Yellow alert announced in 13 districts of Kerala. Earlier, alerts were issued only in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts. Now, alerts issued all districts except Thiruvananthapuram. However, as the rains were strong, an alert was announced in Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Kasaragod districts.

The southern districts of Kerala had strong winds and rain on Sunday night. Extreme damage has been reported in the Kottayam district. Heavy rains caused widespread damage in Kottayam, Vaikkom. Many homes were damaged. Trees fell in many places.

Heavy rains and strong winds are likely to occur in four districts of Kerala over the next three hours, the Meteorological department said. Thundershowers will develop at several places in the districts of Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Yellow Alert was declared in Lakshadweep but withdrawn.

Thunderstorms are possible in one or two places today. Winds are possible at 40 to 50 km / h, the Meteorological Department said.

The yellow alert will be issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts tomorrow.

According to the Central Meteorological Department (IMD), Umpun is likely to become an intense hurricane within the next 12 hours. It is expected to touch the Indian coast by Wednesday. Heavy rains and strong winds are expected along with Odisha and West Bengal, the Meteorological Department said.

The cyclone is currently around 790 km south of Paradip in Orissa and 940 km southwest of West Bengal’s Dikha. The meteorological department has ordered the evacuation of people from northern Odisha and coastal areas including 24 Parganas and Kolkata districts in Bengal.

Thiruvananthapuram: Four flights will arrive in Kerala on Sunday, the second day of the second phase of the Vande Bharat Mission to repatriate the stranded citizens after the COVID 19 lockdown. There will be three flights from the UAE and one from Oman. More than 700 expatriates in four flights will arrive in the country today.

The flights are Dubai-Kochi, Muscat-Thiruvananthapuram, Abu Dhabi-Kochi, and Dubai-Kannur.

A special check by the police to monitor those who live in the quarantine at home will still be on. The state government will make changes to the exemptions and restrictions as per the decision of the central government after the phase-III lockdown.

Wayanad, where most patients are treated in the state, continues to be vigilant. There are currently 17 patients undergoing treatment. Besides, eight people were hospitalized with symptoms. A total of 2,157 persons were observed in the district. Due to the spread of disease in tribal areas, various Panchayats in Mananthavady taluk has been closed and strict vigilance is being continued. Lorries collide; 24 migrant workers died

Lucknow: At least 24 Migrant workers were killed and 13 others injured in a truck collision this morning.

Several people were injured in the accident that occurred at about 3.30 am on Saturday. Migrant workers were returning from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh.

The crash was attributed to the speeding of both lorries. The lorries were from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Home Ministry has directed the state governments to stop migrant workers from returning to their homes on foot.

But migrant workers from many parts of the country are still returning home. The Supreme Court had on Tuesday said that they cannot prevent the migrant workers and the state government should take action in this regard. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that train and bus services had started to accommodate the migrant workers.

PSC exams to be held from June; LDC and Last Grade exams before November

Thiruvananthapuram: The postponed PSC exams will restart by June. The exams are scheduled to begin in June, authorities said.

The tests will be carried out with stringent conditions prescribed by the Department of Health to combat the infection.

PSC has decided to conduct small exams online at its examination centers. The majority of applicants are OMR. The exams are scheduled to start in August.

PSC has decided to conduct 26 exams for 62 posts in March, April and May. All preparations for these exams were completed. Last Grade has 6.90 lakh applicants in 14 districts. It was initially scheduled to be launched in September. But it is likely to take place in October or November. The current rank list for the Last Grade is due on June 29, 2021. The exams for LP and UP teachers also need to be conducted this year.

Railways to allow trains to Kerala
