Sick rooms should be set up in theaters for the sick. They have to stay here until the health workers arrive. High-risk employees should be allowed to work without contact with the public.

Alappuzha: Bird flu has been declared a state disaster. Extreme alerts were announced in Kottayam and Alappuzha districts.
The ducks in Thalavady, Thakazhi, Pallipad in Alappuzha, and Neendoor in Karuvatta Kottayam district died in large numbers last day. The samples were then tested at the Palode Chief Disease Investigation Office and at the National Institute of High-Security Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal.

In five of the eight samples, the H5N1 virus was found to cause bird flu. Depending on the genetic mutation of the virus, they may be lethal or transmitted to humans.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has allowed the Center to go ahead with the construction of a new parliament building. The majority of the verdict approved to proceed with the paperwork of the project.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony on December 10. No other construction work was permitted. The bench headed by Justice A.M Khan Wilker announced the verdicts in the petitions against the project.

The goal is to build a new building complex before 2022. This is due to the lack of facilities, security, and technology for the current parliament building.

However, 60 former officials had written to the Prime Minister asking him to abandon the Rs 20,000 crore project to renovate Central Vista.

E-ballot for expatriates; Ministry of External Affairs approves for the recommendation of the Election Commission

New Delhi: The External Affairs Ministry has approved the Election Commission’s proposal to introduce e-ballot for NRIs. The commission will hold discussions with expatriate organizations and political parties in this regard. The Law Ministry will soon take a decision on amending the election rules.

The Election Commission and the Ministry of External Affairs had a detailed discussion on the non-introduction of e-ballot for NRIs. The draft was handed over to the Commission. The Ministry of External Affairs approved the e-ballot with the suggestion that a detailed consultation is held with all. The Commission has stated that it is technically and administratively ready to implement the e-ballot system in the Assembly elections in Kerala next year as well.

Expatriates in the Gulf countries may not get the chance to vote in the first round. The commission recommended that the e-ballot be amended to include the 1961 Electoral Code. The law ministry will make a decision soon.

The Ministry of External Affairs estimates that there are 1.7 crore expatriates in 206 countries. According to the last parliamentary elections, 99,807 people were registered to vote. Of these, 85,161 are from Kerala.
