Kozhikode: Shigella disease has also been confirmed in the hilly areas of Kozhikode. The 13-year-old was diagnosed with the disease in Koodaranji panchayath. As part of the confirmation of the disease, the panchayat and the health department issued vigilance instructions. Another person in Kannur was diagnosed with Shigella yesterday. A six-year-old boy from Chittaripparamba was diagnosed with the disease. It is learned that the health condition of the child being treated at a private hospital in Kannur is satisfactory.

The health department has launched an investigation into the source of the disease. Shigella was also confirmed to someone in the district last December.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed about this.The Chief Minister said that as part of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the ‘My Tuberculosis Free Kerala’ project is being implemented by the Local Self Government Institutions under the auspices of the Local Self Government Institutions along with the Health Department to achieve the goal of TB eradication by 2025. Government theaters will open from Sunday

Launch of Filament Free Kerala Project

Kannur: Mayor Ad. TO Mohanan inaugurated the district level distribution of LED bulbs through the Filament Free Kerala project initiated by the Energy Kerala Mission at the Corporation Hall. LED bulbs are provided to 225 anganwadis in the Corporation area.The mayor said the project aims to be the beginning of energy conservation and to expand the use of LED bulbs in homes and businesses. Each anganwadi will be provided with three bulbs. In the coming days, LED bulbs will be made available to anganwadis in all the panchayats in the district.Deputy Mayor K Shabeena presided over the function. Councilors N Sukanya, Suresh Babu Elayavur, Corporation Secretary D Saju, KSEB Kannur Electrical Circle Deputy Chief Engineer P Chandrababu, Asst. Opening of Vyttila flyover, bail for three accused
