Nedumbassery: An attempt was made to smuggle 35 lakh worth of gold through the Kochi International Airport. The gold was seized from a passenger from Malappuram on an Indigo flight from Dubai to Kochi International Airport. Customs registered the case and the investigation is in progress.
Kolkata: The fifth phase of polling in West Bengal will begin tomorrow. The fifth phase, in which 45 constituencies are in the contest, will be crucial in determining who wields power.

Kochi: The government has imposed restrictions on opening zero balance accounts at post offices. In a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on April 9, 2021, it was stated that not everyone can open a Zero Balance or Basic Savings Account anymore. Zero balance accounts can now be opened only by senior members registered with any government welfare scheme or by parents of minors who are registered to receive government benefits. All Post Office Savings Accounts opened by these individuals will be Zero Balance Accounts.
No one can open more than one account. That account can be used to receive government benefits such as pensions, scholarships, and LPG subsidies.
Thiruvananthapuram: The number of Covid patients in the state is above 8000 daily. In this case, the second show will not be allowed in theaters as part of Covid restrictions. State Chief Secretary VP Joy told a news conference that theaters would not be allowed to operate after 9 p.m.
New Delhi: The NEET exam has been postponed in the wake of the Covid expansion. The exam was scheduled for the 18th of this month. Union Health Minister Harshavardhan said it had been postponed. The renewal date will be announced later. A total of 1.74 lakh students had applied for the NEET PG examination. This is an examination conducted for admission in Master of Surgery and Doctor of Medicine courses.
New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that Kerala is the only state to use the Covid vaccine effectively. The Ministry also clarified that the rate of the waste vaccine in Kerala is zero. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan also criticized the states for not using the available Covid vaccine properly.
Rajesh Bhushan said that the number of Covid 19 vaccine doses received by the states was 13.10 crore and the total consumption including waste was 11.43 crore. More than 1.67 crore doses are currently available in the states. 2.01 crore doses are ready to be supplied.
The ministry said the shortage of the Covid vaccine was not a problem in the country but a problem for states. The government, meanwhile, said the vaccine would be available in smaller states in 8–9 days. On the one hand, we have a state like Kerala that uses the vaccine without wasting it. Many states, on the other hand, waste 8-9 percent of the vaccine, ”said Rajesh Bhushan. He said the situation was critical in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Gujarat.
New Delhi: The CBSE Class XII examination has been postponed due to the extreme situation in the country. Tenth-class exams canceled. The exam was scheduled to be held in the first week of May. At the same time, marks will be given to the 10th class students through a special assessment method. Students who complain about the marks will be given an opportunity for a written test.
New Delhi: New vehicles will now be fitted with extra security number plates in the showroom. Vehicle inspection before registration is waived. Permanent registration will be given before the vehicles are unloaded from the showroom. The Department of Motor Vehicles has issued an order following the instructions of the Central Government in this regard. It will be effective from Thursday. The dealer will be heavily fined if the vehicles are left on the road without the addition of a security number plate. The fine is the equivalent of 10 years’ road tax on the vehicle. Applications for permanent registration should be submitted online from the showrooms.
Insurance should be taken after paying road tax and registration fees. If you want a fancy number, you have to upload the letter of interest. Other applications will be granted permanent registration soon. Applications received before 4 pm should be allotted a number on the same day.
The dealer can know the registration number immediately. Accordingly, a security number plate should be prepared and affixed to the vehicle. Only after this should the vehicle be handed over to the owner.
