Sputnik vaccine from next month

New Delhi: Russia’s Sputnik V, which has been approved by the Drugs Controller General for emergency use in the country, will be issued next month. Sputnik is the third Covid vaccine to be used in India after the Serum Institute’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.

It is also the first Covid vaccine to be manufactured abroad and imported and used here. The Drug Controller General yesterday approved the approval recommendation submitted on Monday by the expert committee of the Central Drugs Standard Controller Organization. The foreign vaccine was approved to speed up vaccination in the face of the high incidence of Covid spread in the country.

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that another lockdown will not be announced in the wake of the spread of Covid disease in the country. Speaking at a virtual meeting with World Bank Group President David Malpas on Tuesday, the minister said the current situation would only lead to local restrictions. The Finance Minister also briefed the meeting on the steps being taken by the country.

Jaleel handed over his resignation letter to the Chief Secretary as Chief Minster went for covid treatment. Chief Secretary handed over the letter to the Governor. Kozhikode: Three killed, nine missing in Kozhikode boat capsize

Kozhikode: Nine persons who went fishing after a ship collided with a boat went missing. 3 people died. The group was fishing in Beypore when the accident happened. The accident took place off the coast of Mangalore. Two people were killed, Mangalore Coastal Police said. The search is being carried out by helicopter.

A total of 13 people were on board. The boat, ISB Rabba, owned by Jaffer, a native of Beypore, was involved in the accident. The Coast Guard and Navy are searching the area. The wrecked ship has not been identified.

Two of the 11 missing persons were rescued by the Coast Guard and others. Sunildas (34) from Bengal and Velmurugan (37) from Tamil Nadu were rescued. The boat was carrying 14 workers. Seven of the injured workers are Miznat natives. N. Seven is from Odisha and one from Bengal.

New Delhi: DGCI has approved Sputnik, a Covid vaccine developed by Russia. Final approval for emergency use has been obtained. Sputnik is manufactured in India by Dr. Reddy’s. The Sputnik V vaccine was approved by the Subject Expert Committee today.

On February 19, Dr. Reddy’s submitted an application seeking permission for emergency use. This is the third Covid vaccine licensed for use in the country. The vaccines currently in use in the country are Covishield, developed by Oxford University in association with AstraZeneca, and Covaxin by Bharat Biotech.

A total of 1,68,912 people have been newly diagnosed with the disease in the country. With this, India came second in the spread of the disease, overtaking Brazil.

The total number of Covid cases in India has crossed 1.35 crore. India surpasses Brazil’s 1.34 crore cases. The United States tops the list with 3.111,97,511 patients. The number of Covid victims in India is 1,35,27,717.

France is fourth on the list with more than 51 million Covid victims. Russia ranks fifth with more than 45 million Covid victims. Maharashtra is the most contagious state in India. In Maharashtra, 63,294 people were newly diagnosed with the disease. Following this, the government is considering announcing a complete lockdown in the state.

After Maharashtra, Covid cases are on the rise in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. Covid is also spreading in states like Delhi and Gujarat. New cases were reported in Delhi at 10,774 and in Gujarat at 5,469.
