Kochi: Customs say Arjun Ayanki, a Kannur resident who went missing in connection with the Karipur gold smuggling and Ramanattukara accident death, is the main link in the case. This is stated in the report submitted by Customs in the court dealing with financial crimes.
According to the arrested Mohammad Shafiq, Arjun was the mastermind. According to Shafiq, he received Rs 40,000 and a plane ticket as a reward, and Salim handed over the gold in a box from the airport.
Before leaving the plane, Arjun had called Ayanki. According to Shafiq, he was asked to change his shirt and put on a different color. Customs believe he was asked to change his shirt because he realized there was a drink between the gold smuggling rackets and that the gold smuggling was leaking.
Arjun Ayanki planned to buy gold from Shafiq on his way out of the airport. But before this, Shafiq was arrested.
Arjun Ayanki is a native of Azhikode, Kannur. His house was searched on Wednesday evening for two hours by Assistant Commissioner of Customs E. Vikas. Arjun was at home till Wednesday morning but later went into hiding.
Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court has remanded Bineesh Kodiyeri’s bail application in a money laundering case in Bangalore. This is the tenth time the court has adjourned the petition for various reasons. When Bineesh’s lawyer asked for time to argue today, the court replied that it was a case that needed to be heard in detail. Bineesh’s lawyer was allowed to appear in detail next Wednesday and ED on Thursday. Bineesh spent 234 days in jail in the case.

Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the ISRO spy case the CBI has registered a case against 18 former police officials, including retired DGPs Siby Mathews and RB Sreekumar, on charges of conspiracy. Seven are former officers of the Kerala Police and the rest are former officers of the Central Intelligence Bureau. The preliminary report alleges conspiracy, harassment, defamation of central government officials, and fabrication. Santosh, an officer of the Delhi CBI unit, filed the FIR online in the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.

New Delhi: For the relief of expatriates, the Central Government has set up a facility to link the vaccination certificate with the passport on the Cowin portal. Arogya Sethu app tweeted that, from now on, the passport number can be recorded in the vaccination certificate.
The vaccination certificate is mandatory for expatriates returning to foreign countries. The condition is to receive the vaccine approved in foreign countries. It is also suggested that the passport number be recorded in the vaccination certificate to ensure the authenticity of the document.
To facilitate this, a special system has been set up in the Cowin portal, which is used nationwide for vaccine registration. The facility to attach the vaccination certificate with the passport has been provided. The service provided at the Cowin Portal is to record the passport number on the vaccination certificate.
