Kochi: C Sajesh, the benefactor of Arjun Ayanki, one of the masterminds in the gold smuggling case, appeared for questioning. Sajesh, a former DYFI regional office bearer, appeared before customs in Kochi at 11 am. He was a member of the CPM Moiyaram branch and was expelled from the party yesterday.

The car used by Arjun is registered in the name of Sajesh. The investigation revealed that Arjun was traveling in this car at the Karipur airport. The car was found abandoned in Pariyaram.

Mangalore: Karnataka has made RTPCR negative test results mandatory for those arriving from Kerala. Following the detection of Delta Plus in Kerala, a new variant of the Covid-19 virus, Karnataka has again made negative test results mandatory. With this, strict monitoring was carried out in the border areas of the districts including Dakshina Kannada, which shares a border with Kerala. Those who fail the negative test will be sent back.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) K V Rajendra informed that RT-PCR negative result is mandatory for all those entering Karnataka through various borders of Dakshina Kannada district. The Deputy Commissioner said that steps have been taken to check all vehicles entering the district through various border roads as per the order of the state government.

The DC said there will be 24-hour inspections to prevent people from making unnecessary trips.

It has also asked for the setting up of checkpoints in the Gram Panchayats in the border areas of the district. All hospitals have been directed to make RT-PCR mandatory for patients coming from Kerala and those accompanying them. Covid checkpoints were also opened at the borders.

Border surveillance has also been strengthened to prevent the possibility of a third wave and reduce the number of cases. The deputy commissioner told that it was a challenge to check those coming by train.

Thiruvananthapuram: The arrest of the accused in the murder of an Uber taxi driver at Chakka in Thiruvananthapuram has been registered. Sanal Mohammad Khani and Sajad, residents of Puthukkurichi, Kathinamkulam were arrested.

Defendant Sanal Mohammad sustained a hand injury during the attack. Sanal was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. However, the hospital authorities informed the police about the suspicion.

The information about the murder came to light after the Vanchiyoor police questioned him. When the police reached the house in Chakka, Sampath was found bleeding to death.

The victim was found dead in a rented house near Chakka on Monday morning. There were about sixty wounds on Sambath’s body. The two chased and stabbed Sambath, who tried to run away from behind during the attack. The Vanchiyoor CI Ragesh Kumar said that they are also investigating the links of the incident.

Sanal, one of the accused in the murder case, was earlier arrested by the Attingal police in connection with the cannabis case. The postmortem of the Sambath will take place today.

Kochi: The arrest of Arjun Ayanki, who was taken into customs custody in connection with the Karipur gold smuggling, has been registered. The arrest was recorded after six hours of questioning.

According to a report filed in the Customs Court, Arjun Ayanki was involved in the Karipur gold smuggling.
