One handbag is enough for air travel; Center for strict enforcement of the rule
New Delhi: The Center has directed airlines to strictly enforce the one-hand bag rule for passengers onboard flights.
According to BCAS, the central government’s aviation security agency, the main reason for the increase in air traffic congestion is the ineffective implementation of the rules. This is stated in a memo sent by BCAS to airlines and airports.
Currently, the average passenger carries two to three handbags. Due to this a lot of time is wasted at the screening point. Airports are getting busier due to the clearance taking longer. This delay is also causing inconvenience to passengers. It is in this context that the memo states that it is important to ensure that the rules are strictly adhered to.
One handbag system must be strictly adhered to by all airlines and airports. This is essential to ensure security and reduce congestion at airports. Airlines are required to check the handbag status of the passengers before boarding the aircraft. The circular also says that companies should be prepared to give necessary instructions to passengers.
