Marakkar with Jay Bhim; Mohanlal’s cinema shortlisted for the Oscars

Kochi: The Marakkar Arabi Kadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Mohanlal, has been shortlisted for the Oscars. Marakkar has been shortlisted by India for the Global Community Oscar Awards-2021. Surya starrer Tamil film Jai Bhim has also been shortlisted for the Oscars. The film has been shortlisted for the Best Feature Film category. Voting for the Oscar nominations will run from Thursday, January 27 to Tuesday, February 1.

Marakkar won the National Award for Best Feature Film, Special Effects, and Costume Design. The film, which was released in theaters on December 2 last year, was also released on December 17 on Amazon Prime. Apart from Mohanlal, Nedumudi Venu, Manju Warrier, Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Keerthi Suresh, Mukesh, Sunil Shetty, Arjun, Innocent and Mamukoya are also in the cast. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Confident Group under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Covid; PSC exams postponed

Kochi: Actor Dileep’s anticipatory bail application in the case of conspiracy to endanger the police officers investigating the attack on the actress has been postponed to Saturday. The court will hold a special sitting tomorrow. Earlier, the prosecution had opposed granting bail to Dileep.

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has revised the discharge policy of hospitals in the state. The discharge policy is renewed according to the severity of the covid disease, with mild symptoms, moderate symptoms, and severe ones. Rapid antigen tests may not be negative for discharge in people with mild symptoms. Patients with symptoms should be monitored at home for 7 days from the time they begin to show symptoms or when patients without symptoms are confirmed by covid. In addition, home observation can be terminated if there is no fever for three consecutive days.

While at home monitoring should be monitored for any signs of danger. Walk test should be done for 6 minutes daily.
