Thiruvananthapuram: All educational institutions including professional colleges in the state will be given a holiday on October 3. This is on the occasion of Navratri. Instead, the respective institutions can decide if rescheduling is required on any other day. This was decided in the cabinet meeting.
Center bans Popular Front for five years
New Delhi: Following widespread raids and arrests by central agencies, the Center issued an order banning the Popular Front of India (PFI). The ban is for five years. The ban will come into effect soon. Eight affiliates of the Popular Front were also banned. Organizations like Rehab India Foundation, Campus Front, NCHRO, National Women’s Front and Empower India Federation were banned.
In 15 states including Kerala, raids were conducted on the offices and houses of the leaders of Popular Front under the leadership of central agencies like NIA and ED. National leaders of the organization were also arrested in the raid. 19 leaders were arrested from Kerala alone.
Sexual assault against actresses in the mall; Police have started an investigation
Kozhikode: The police have started an investigation into the sexual assault on the actress in Kozhikode Mall. The investigation team went to Kannur and Ernakulam to take statements from the filmmakers. The director lodged a complaint with Pantheerankavu police through email.
One of the actresses who faced violence revealed the incident through social media yesterday. The actress said that while coming down from the program at the mall, someone from the crowd grabbed her. A colleague had the same experience. But the actress added that even though they reacted against it, she could not do it.
The actress says in her post that although she has gone to many places as part of the film’s promotion, she had to face such an experience for the first time.
Private bus collides with truck in Lakhimpur Kheri; Eight people died
Lucknow: Eight people died when a private bus collided with a truck in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The condition of 12 people is critical. There were 50 passengers on the bus. The accident took place on the bridge across the Sarada river this morning.
The bus which was going from Dhaurhara to Lakhimpur met with an accident. Around 7:30 in the morning, the bus and the truck collided on the bridge near the Isanagar police station.
Six people on the bus died on the spot as a result of the impact. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Encounter in Kulgam; A Jaish -e- Muhammed terrorist was killed by forces
Jammu: A Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist was killed by security forces in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam. The encounter took place in Ahwatu area of Kulgam.
On the information that there are more terrorists in the area, the search is on. Last day, the security forces had an encounter with the terrorists in Batpora and killed two Jaishe terrorists.
It was against this backdrop that the inspection was conducted in Ahwatu. Meanwhile, the terrorists opened fire on the army personnel.
Abortion; the woman does not require the husband’s permission; High Court
Kochi: High Court says that a married woman does not need her husband’s permission to have an abortion. The action is on the petition of a 21-year-old woman. Justice VG Arun granted conditional permission for the abortion to the woman who was suffering from domestic violence even though she was 21 weeks pregnant.
The order has also considered the report of the medical board. The case will be heard after two weeks. The court observed that the harassment by her husband and family had caused severe psychological trauma to the young woman.
She went to the family planning clinic of Kottayam Medical College for an abortion, but the doctors sent her back as there were no documents of legal separation from her husband. After filing a domestic violence complaint against her husband and mother-in-law, she approached the doctors.
However, the doctors refused because the pregnancy was past 21 weeks and it would affect her health. Then the woman approached the High Court. The court directed the woman to give an affidavit that she takes full responsibility for the abortion.
Bollywood actress Asha Parekh to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award
New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actress Asha Parekh has been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The award is for comprehensive contributions to the Indian film industry. President Draupadi Murmu will present a prize of Rs 10 lakh and a plaque. Union Minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement.
The major movies are Hum Saya, Love in Tokyo, Kanyadaan, Gunghat, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Do Badan, Chiraag, Siddi, etc. Asha Parekh, who retired from acting and turned to television serial production, is the first woman to chair the Censor Board.
‘Violent stray dogs must be killed’; Kerala seeks permission of Supreme Court
New Delhi: Kerala seeks permission from Supreme Court to kill violent stray dogs. The application was submitted by the state government and two local self-governing bodies.
Current regulations allow euthanasia only for dogs in emergencies. Therefore, permission from the Supreme Court is required to kill violent and aggressive dogs. The state has taken steps for this.
Current laws allow the culling of birds or animals when they are infected with infectious diseases. In such a severe situation of stray dog attacks, the state needs to relax the current rules and give permission. The Justice Sirijagan Committee has informed the Supreme Court that the failure of the ABC scheme is the reason for the increase in street dogs in the state.
Dengue rates rise; 840 cases were reported in West Bengal yesterday alone
New Delhi: Dengue cases are increasing in West Bengal. The Health Department informed that 840 dengue cases were confirmed in the state in just one day. The authorities have instructed us to take precautions to prevent dengue fever and use only clean water for drinking.
Out of 7682 samples tested, 840 people were diagnosed with the disease. 541 people are currently hospitalized. More cases have been reported from North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, Murshidabad, Jalpaiguri, and Darjeeling districts.
Dengue can be prevented
Dengue hemorrhagic fever is dengue fever that causes bleeding. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is fatal and difficult to cure even with treatment. If symptoms appear, seek treatment at the nearest health center as soon as possible without resorting to self-treatment.
Curfew on Jamia Millia and Shaheen Bagh
New Delhi: Curfew has been announced in Delhi Jamia Millia and Shaheen Bagh while the NIA Raid continues across the country. A curfew has been announced in the vicinity of Jamia Millia University. The Delhi Police claim that the raid is not related to the raid against the Popular Front.
Delhi Police informed that the order declaring Section 144 is not new and was decided 10 days ago. The order signed by the chief proctor of the university informing the students of Jamia Millia about the imposition of 144 is also circulating on social media.
