Landslides in quarry in Mizoram; Eight deaths

Aizawl: A landslide occurred in the quarry in Hanhital, in Mizoram. So far eight people have lost their lives in the disaster. It is reported that many workers are still trapped in the accident yesterday afternoon. During the work, a large-scale landslide fell on top of the workers.
The number of people trapped in the debris is yet to be confirmed. The rescue operation is being carried out by the fire brigade, SDRF, and volunteers of the Young Mizo Association. Non-Mizo workers make up the majority of those stranded.

Narayanan Nair murder case; Accused 11 RSS activists get life imprisonment

Thiruvananthapuram:  11 RSS workers, including the BMS leader, accused in Narayanan Nair’s murder case in Anavoor, got life imprisonment. Rajesh (47), state general secretary of BMS Transport Employees Sangh from Keezharur, Prasad Kumar (35) at Puthanveet in Arashuvila, Girish Kumar (41) at Karthika Sadanam, Prem Kumar (36) at Bhagyavilasam bungalow in Elivalankonam, Arunkumar Anthappan (36) at Geetha Bhavan in Pevarathalakuzhi, Baiju (42) of Vadakkekara house, brothers Anil alias Kunnu (32) of Kavallur Manikanthavilasam, Ajayan alias Unni (33), Sajikumar (43) of Sri Kalabhavan in Pasuvannara, Binukumar (43) of Shastamkonam Vala residence, and Girish alias Anikutan (48) of Parajikonath residence were punished.

The judgment belongs to the Neyyattinkara Sessions Court. Narayanan Nair, a member of the state committee of the KMCSU, Sivaprasad’s father, was hacked to death by the RSS gang for obstructing him while he was trying to kill him. On the night of November 5, 2013, Narayanan was killed in front of his family members. Narayanan Nair was also an employee of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
There were 45 witnesses in the nine-year-long case. 23 vehicles including vehicles were produced. Currently, DySPs S Anil Kumar, J Johnson, VT Rasith, CIs J Mohandas, Ajith Kumar, SI Balachandran, and ASI Krishnankutty are investigating the case at various places.

Order canceling appointment of Kufos VC; High Court Criticism Against Governor

Kochi:  The High Court criticized the Governor for canceling the appointment order of the Kufos Vice-Chancellor. The High Court pointed out that it was wrong for the Governor to approve the appointment of K Riji John.

The High Court canceled the appointment of Dr. K. Riji John as Kufos VC. The purpose of the Division Bench Search Committee observed that the search committee for the appointment was formed with political motives. It was also assessed that Riji John was only made the chairman. In the order, the court also stated that the Governor’s action in accepting the recommendation of the selection committee without a UGC representative was wrong.

Two petitions have reached the High Court questioning the appointment of Dr. K Riji John. After hearing the details of the case, the bench headed by the Chief Justice passed the order dismissing Kufos VC. The court has rejected Dr. Riji John’s contentions on eligibility.

Meanwhile, Riji John asked for 10 days to appeal the case, but the court did not allow it. The court directed the VC to vacate the post immediately and directed the chancellor to take further steps.

The second smartphone in the Realme 10 series has been released. Realme 10 5G version launched in China. The 4G version of this phone is already available in the global market. Realme 10 5G was launched in China ahead of the launch of Realme 10 Pro and Realme 10 Pro Plus on November 17.

Coming to the price of this phone, the 8GB RAM 128GB storage variant is priced at 1,299 Yuan (roughly Rs. 14,700). Meanwhile, the double storage model is priced at 1,599 Yuan (roughly Rs. 18,000). Realme 10 5G is available in Regin Doujin and Stone Crystal Black colors. There is no word yet on when this 5G phone will arrive in other markets outside of China, including India.

At the same time, coming to other features of this phone. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dementia 700 SoC chip. RAM is 8GB. This 5G phone comes with UFS 2.2 storage in two variants – 128GB and 256GB. Also, up to 6GB of unused storage can be used as virtual RAM.
The Realme 10 5G sports a 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401 ppi. The screen has 98 percent NTSC coverage and a touch sampling rate of 180 Hz. The panel is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. The Realme 10 5G is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. It will support 33 Watts fast charging.

The Realme 10 5G has a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor. In addition to the main camera, there is a 2 MP macro unit paired with a portrait lens. The water drop notch houses an 8 MP selfie camera. Realme 10 5G runs Android 12 based on Realme UI 3.0.

MILMA’s recommendation to raise milk price by Rs 8.57 per litre

Palakkad: Milma Milk’s recommendation to increase milk price by Rs 8.57 per liter will be submitted to the government tomorrow. According to Milma’s recommendation, the price hike should be implemented by the 21st of this month.

MILMA has made the recommendation based on the interim report of the expert committee appointed to study milk price hike. Milma’s decision was taken at an emergency meeting held today at Kallepully, Palakkad to discuss the price increase. Representatives from three unions came to the meeting.

The committee gave a report to Milma that the demand of the farmers should be increased by Rs.7 to Rs.8 per liter. According to the report, only if the price of milk is increased, the farmer will get at least six rupees after commission etc. Last time, the farmers had complained to the committee that even when the price of milk was increased by four rupees, it did not help.

Delhi liquor policy scam; ED recorded the arrest of Mumbai Malayali businessman Vijay Nair

New Delhi: ED recorded the arrest of Mumbai Malayalee businessman Vijay Nair in the Delhi liquor scam. Vijay Nair, who is currently in CBI custody, was arrested while the bail plea was being considered.

Vijay Nair is also the head of the communication department of Aam Aadmi Party. Another accused Abishek and Vijay Nair were working for some liquor businessmen in South India. Both are currently in jail.

Both will be taken into custody by the ED court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Both of them applied for bail stating that there is no need for further interrogation in CBI custody.

But the CBI’s argument is that Vijay Nair conspired with some others and that’s how Delhi’s liquor policy was formed. The CBI also alleged that Abhishek Boinpally was also involved in the formulation of liquor policy along with the liquor businessmen of Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad and reaped its benefits.

ED has conducted around 169 searches and arrested many people in connection with this case.

The woman died after being injured in her husband’s acid attack

Malappuram: Pandikkad woman injured in the acid attack (acid attack) of her husband died. Fashana Sherin, a native of Chembrasseri Ambalakalli, Pandikkad, who was undergoing treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College, died.

Rohingya refugees crossing India-Bangladesh international border; arrested

New Delhi: Rohingya refugees who entered India illegally were arrested by the police in Agartala. Tripura police arrested six persons including two children after taking them into custody.

During the interrogation, the detained persons admitted that they had crossed the India-Bangladesh International Border at Dhanpur under Jatrapur Police Station in Tripura’s Sepahijala District.

Assistant Inspector General Jyotishman Das Chaudhary said that a separate case has been registered against them for further legal action. During interrogation, it was revealed that most of them were from the Kutupalong Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. One is from a refugee camp in Chittagong.

Meanwhile, the police had arrested 15 Rohingya refugees from different parts of Tripura a week ago. Tripura shares a 856 km border with Bangladesh. Sepahijala district shares a large part of the Indo-Bangla border.

Rohingyas are the most persecuted minority in the world according to the United Nations report. The Rohingyas are a Muslim group who speak the Rohingya language and have lived in Myanmar for centuries. Those who are not considered among the 135 tribal groups in Myanmar have had no citizenship in Myanmar since 1982.

Chance of widespread rain in the state for three days; Orange alert in Idukki

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of widespread rain in the state for three days. An orange alert has been issued in the Idukki district today because of heavy rainfall. 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain is forecast in 24 hours. A yellow alert has been announced today in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.

A yellow alert was declared in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts on Sunday, and Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on Monday. The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in some districts, but as there is a possibility of isolated heavy thundershowers in the hilly areas, caution should be exercised similar to the orange alert in the hilly areas that have received heavy rains in the past few days.

The Central Meteorological Department has informed us that no fishing should be done on Kerala coasts from today till tomorrow and on Lakshadweep coasts till Monday. According to the Central Meteorological Department, strong winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph at occasional gusts of up to 55 kmph are likely to occur over Kerala coasts till Monday and Lakshadweep coasts till Tuesday.
