Thiruvananthapuram:  Bineesh Kodiyeri will be the Joint Secretary of the Kerala Cricket Association. Jayesh George will be the new president and Vinod S Kumar will be the new secretary. The picture of the KCA leadership became clear after the deadline for submission of nomination papers.

Earlier, Bineesh Kodiyeri’s panel had won the Kannur District Cricket Association elections. With this, Bineesh was selected as the KCA representative. A great organizer, Bineesh has also served as Reception Committee Chairman for three international cricket matches held at Kariavattom Sports Hub, Thiruvananthapuram. He came to the Kerala Cricket Association for the first time in 2018.

Sebi Approves Adani Group’s offer to buy NDTV

New Delhi: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved Adani Group’s open offer to buy an additional 26 percent stake in media major NDTV. The open offer period is from November 22nd to December 5th. The fixed price is Rs 294 per share.

Adani Group owned a 29.18 percent stake in NDTV through RRPR, the promoter company. In addition to this, an open offer to buy an additional 26 percent stake was also approved as per SEBI regulations. Once this becomes possible, NDTV will be under the control of Adani Group with a 55.18 percent stake.

RRPR borrowed Rs. 400 crores from Vishwapradhan Commercial Pvt Ltd in 2009 to repay the loan from ICICI Bank. In return for this, 99.5 percent of RRPR’s shares were pledged. Later Vishwapradhan became a part of the Adani Group. The Adani Group used the right to acquire shares of RRPR instead of the borrowed amount.

Teacher arrested in POCSO case

Kozhikode: A teacher has been arrested in the POCSO case. Abdul Nasser, a resident of Atholi Kotassery, Kozhikode was arrested. He is accused in more than five POCSO cases. The students themselves are the victims. He molested five children. Elathur police arrested him in the morning. Both boys and girls were victims of torture, police said.

Massive drug hunt at the border; Two people arrested with drugs worth 10 crores

Guwahati: Two-member gang arrested for trying to smuggle drugs through the border. Drugs worth Rs 10 crore were seized from them. The accused were caught in Assam while trying to smuggle the drugs to different parts of the country through the West Bengal border.

The gang tried to smuggle 54,000 drug pills in bags. The names of the accused have not been disclosed. The police said that more arrests will be made soon in connection with the incident.

Yesterday, the Punjab Police had caught a gang trying to smuggle drugs across the border in a similar manner. The police arrested 513 drug traffickers in the last two weeks. Police recovered 42.36 kg of heroin, 18 kg of opium, 12 kg of ganja, 9 quintals of poppy pods used for making opium, 74,000 tablets, capsules, syringes and bottles of pharma opioids and Rs 14.80 lakh.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed police chiefs to confiscate the properties of all drug smugglers caught and recover their illegal money.

Special alert in Seven districts against dengue; Health Minister to take care of prolonged fever

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said a special alert has been issued in 7 districts against dengue fever.
Special alert has been given to the districts where dengue fever cases like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Malappuram are increasing. Other districts should also be cautious. Mosquito control and source control activities should be carried out in all districts. The Minister also directed to intensify prevention and awareness activities in view of increasing dengue fever in many districts due to continuous rains.

A meeting was held under the leadership of the Minister to assess the situation of the districts. The situation of Ernakulam district was evaluated separately. Each district should carry out activities according to the action plan. It should be evaluated accurately. Ward level sanitation fund should be utilized effectively for this. It was also decided to observe Reda Day once a week at the state level. Vector control units should be used effectively by the district health department. DVC units should be deployed in required high risk areas and conduct operations. Instructions for this should be given from the respective places. The minister also directed that the weekly report should be evaluated at the district level.

Prolonged fever should be noted. Many people come to the hospital when they get complications from the flu. This can make the disease worse. So, if you have a fever, you should make sure that it is not another contagious disease. Importance should be given to the destruction of the source of the mosquito. Care should be taken not to let water stand inside or outside the house. There is a possibility that the trays where the houseplants are kept are waterlogged. Therefore, the water in the trays of the pots and the fridge should be changed weekly.

Foreclosed homes, establishments, unused tires, blocked gutters, houseplants, water tanks, closets in hardware stores, foreclosed homes, and old vehicles should also be noted. Special care should be taken to see if there is breeding activity in areas where construction activities are taking place. Fogging should be made scientific. A special squad should be formed and operations should be carried out. Institutions, hospitals and hostels should be properly cleaned. Accommodation of guest workers should also be taken care of.

Changes are coming to PSC; Instructions to report one year vacancies in advance

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a change in the way of reporting only after the vacancy in PSC. The PSC has clarified that the vacancies of one year should be reported in advance.

This year, the method of reporting vacancies that may arise from January 1 to December 31, 2023 before the 30th of this month will begin this year. Leave of more than six months will also be treated as leave.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Asha Thomas issued an order in this regard. Vacancies reported to PSC should not be filled up through recruitment, the order said. The number and date of vacancies reported to the PSC should be communicated to the Civil Service Reforms Department. Leave for more than six months should be treated as leave and reported to the PSC.

There is also a new proposal that all vacancies arising while a rank list is in existence should be filled from that list itself. No temporary appointment in PSC list. If any post has PSC rank list, appointment to that post on daily wage basis, on contract basis or through employment exchange shall not be allowed. The instruction also states that the number of vacancies should be reported to the department on December 1.

Letter controversy: Local bodies ombudsman sends notice to the mayor

Thiruvananthapuram: Local bodies’ ombudsman has sent a notice to mayor Arya Rajendran in the Thiruvananthapuram corporation letter controversy. A notice has also been given to the Corporation Secretary. The action was taken on the complaint filed by Youth Congress leader Sudhir Shah Palod. The complaint was that the mayor had violated his oath. The notice states that the mayor must respond to the complaint in writing by the 20th of this month. He has also been asked to attend the online sitting on December 2.

The complaint was that Mayor Arya Rajendran had taken a nepotistic stance in a manner unbecoming of a representative of the people. Actress assault case: Notice to Shaun George to appear tomorrow for questioning

Kochi:  Crime branch notice to Shawn George in the case of assaulting the actress. The notice has been given stating that they should come to the Kottayam crime branch office tomorrow afternoon for questioning. The action is in the case of spreading defamatory messages.

In connection with the case, the crime branch team had raided Shaun George’s house earlier and checked it including his mobile phone. Shaun George admitted that he had sent screenshots of chats he had received through social media to Dileep.

The case is based on the fact that Shawn George sent the screenshots to Dileep’s brother Anup, which was circulated as a conspiracy against Dileep in the case of assaulting the actress. These chats were found to be fake. But Shawn George said that he got these from social media.
