Karipur: The death toll in the Karipur plane crash has risen to 18. The co-pilot also died shortly after the pilot died. Work is now underway to prevent fuel leaks. One child among the deceased.

The Air India Express flight IX 1344 as part of the Vande Bharat mission from Dubai with 191 passengers on board crashed at 7.45 pm. The plane plunged to a depth of 35 feet and split in two. Of the passengers, 175 were adults and 10 were children. The plane crashed on the Kondotty-Kunnumpuram road on the cross belt road via Melangadi.

Information that the tabletop fell from the runway while the plane was trying to take off again as it swerved forward through the runway during landing. The front of the plane crashed.

The plane that crashed in Karipur was flown by a very experienced pilot, Captain Deepak Vasanth Sathe. He was served as a pilot in the Indian Air Force before joining Air India. Sathe is a native of Maharashtra.

He has flown fighter jets and has experience flying wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus 310. Also, he has won the Sode of Honor of the Air Force Academy. He has also worked as a test pilot for Hindustan Aeronautics.

Idukki: Eleven people were killed and 12 others were rescued in a landslide at Munnar Rajamala Pettimudi. 57 people are missing. The search for them has begun. They are reported to be trapped in the soil. The landslide occurred in the Pettimudi plantation area following a landslide in the Rajamala area around 2 am today. The incident came to know about the accident around 6 in the morning. As it is an inland area, rescue operations could not start much later.

Meanwhile, one person was killed when a house collapsed in heavy rain on the way to Ongallore in Palakkad. The deceased was identified as Manu, 70, of Machingathodi, Koodamangalam. Other members of his family escaped with minor injuries.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by Rahna Fathima in the nude drawing case. The petition was considered by Justice Arun Mishra.

Arun Mishra said that it was clear that pornography was being spread. What is the perception of children about the culture of the country, the court expressed concern in the case. Rahna Fatima may be an activist, but why did she do this, the court also asks. The High Court had earlier rejected Rahna’s earlier plea. It was after this that they approached the Supreme Court.

Kottayam: Bishop Franco Mulakkal has been granted bail in the case of molesting a nun. The court granted bail on the basis that Franco should not leave Kerala till the 13th day after hearing the charge sheet. The bishop must appear in court for all further hearings. The Supreme Court had yesterday rejected a petition filed by Franco seeking to be dropped from the case.

Franco Mulakkal approached the Supreme Court, alleging that the testimony against him was contradictory and that the evidence was fabricated. In the petition, Franco Mulakkal had stated that the evidence did not exist. However, the Supreme Court ruled that Franco Mulakkal could not be excluded from the list of defendants.

Chief Justice SA Bobde had asked Franco Mulakkal’s lawyer, who was trying to oppose the court’s decision, whether it was an attempt to exert spiritual power over the court. Earlier, the Kerala High Court had rejected the demand for Franco Mulakkal. The High Court ordered that the case be tried.

Thiruvananthapuram: The NIA is taking evidence in Thiruvananthapuram with the accused in the gold smuggling case. Evidence is being taken at the five-star Hotel in Thambanur with two accused, including Jalal, a native of Muvattupuzha. The report said the evidence was used to further validate the allegations that the accused were involved in the gold exchange and conspiracy. Earlier, it was alleged that Jalal was involved in money laundering.

The catchment area of the western Banasura Sagar Dam received 178 mm of rainfall. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued flood warnings to 10 states, including Kerala.
