GURUVAYUR: On the auspicious occasion of the first Thursday (Muppattu Vyazhazhcha) of the Malayalam month of Mithunam, a magnificent golden crown was offered as a devotional offering to Lord Guruvayurappan today. Gopu Nandilath, the owner of the prominent home appliances firm Nandilath Group, presented the stone-studded golden crown to the deity.

The dedication ceremony took place this morning, ahead of the Ucha Pooja (noon deity rituals). Weighing 201 grams and 370 milligrams (approximately 25 sovereigns), the exquisite crown is valued at around ₹30 lakhs. Today’s Ucha Pooja was performed after adorning the deity with the new golden crown, which was placed at the Sopanam (sanctum steps) as part of the ritual.

The ceremony was attended by Devaswom Chairman A.V. Gopinath (Ex-MLA), Temple Ooralan and Devaswom Managing Committee Member Brahmasree Mallisseri Parameswaran Namboothiripad, Temple DA M. Radha, and Shiny Gopu, the wife of Gopu Nandilath.

An ardent devotee of Lord Guruvayurappan, Gopu Nandilath has previously offered three elephants to the Guruvayur temple.
