Landslide in Munnar: 11 dead, 57 missings, rescue operation continues

Idukki: Eleven people were killed and 12 others were rescued in a landslide at Munnar Rajamala Pettimudi. 57 people are missing. The search for them has begun. They are reported to be trapped in the soil. The landslide occurred in the Pettimudi plantation area following a landslide in the Rajamala area around 2 am today. The incident came to know about the accident around 6 in the morning. As it is an inland area, rescue operations could not start much later.

Meanwhile, one person was killed when a house collapsed in heavy rain on the way to Ongallore in Palakkad. The deceased was identified as Manu, 70, of Machingathodi, Koodamangalam. Other members of his family escaped with minor injuries.
