Rajkot: The Supreme Court has taken a suo moto case against the Covid patient who died of burns at a hospital in Gujarat. The court registered the case and also directed the state government to file a report on Tuesday.

The fire broke out in the intensive care unit of Shivanand Hospital in Rajkot on Friday morning. There were 11 Covid patients in the ICU at the time.

Shivanand is the only hospital for Covid treatment. The cause of the fire is not clear. The patients in the hospital were transferred to another hospital. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced an inquiry into the incident.
