New Delhi: The SNC Lavalin case has been postponed again. The court accepted the CBI’s request for more time. The case was heard by a three-judge bench headed by Justice U U Lalith. Dissatisfied with the continuous transfer of the case, the court directed the CBI to submit additional documents by January 7. The case is set to return to court on January 7.

The court asked the CBI to come up with strong arguments in the case where the two courts had taken the same decision. The Kerala High Court had acquitted Pinarayi Vijayan, K. Mohan Chandran, and A.Francis in the Lavalin case.

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India has announced a revised monetary policy. No change in interest rates. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the monetary policy committee had unanimously decided to keep the repo rate at 4%. The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and bank rate will remain at 4.25%. The reverse repo rate will remain at 3.35%. Although inflation may remain high in the coming days, gains in crops may provide some relief in the winter.

The expected GDP growth rate in 2021 is minus 7.5%. The RBI expects GDP growth to be 0.1% in the third quarter of this fiscal. It is expected to touch 0.7 percent in the fourth quarter. The RBI has decided not to change its monetary policy in the wake of the Covid 19 epidemic and to control inflation. The stock market also rebounded after the RBI announced its lending policy. The Sensex was up 313.55 points at 44,946.20. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty rose by 0.31% to 13,174.65.

Bangalore: Karnataka is all set to implement the ban on cow slaughter. Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chavan said after the cabinet meeting that the bill would be introduced in the coming assembly session.

Rajkot: The Supreme Court has taken a suo moto case against the Covid patient who died of burns at a hospital in Gujarat. The court registered the case and also directed the state government to file a report on Tuesday.

The fire broke out in the intensive care unit of Shivanand Hospital in Rajkot on Friday morning. There were 11 Covid patients in the ICU at the time.

Shivanand is the only hospital for Covid treatment. The cause of the fire is not clear. The patients in the hospital were transferred to another hospital. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced an inquiry into the incident.

Madurai: The CBI has arrested S Ramakrishnan, assistant director of tourism in India, for allegedly accepting bribes to give star status to hotels that do not even have basic facilities. Ramakrishnan was arrested from Madurai.

The CBI had raided various places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala yesterday in connection with the case. In Kerala, raids were carried out on hotels and agents’ houses. In Chennai, a CBI probe found that officials from the tourism ministry had also taken bribes through intermediaries.
