Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede during the screening of Pushpa 2. The Hyderabad police arrested the actor from his residence in Jubilee Hills. The police had registered a case against Allu Arjun in the case. Allu Arjun had approached the Telangana High Court yesterday seeking cancellation of the case registered against him. The arrest came after this.

The incident took place on Wednesday night, December 4, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. Revathi (39), a native of Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad, died. Revathi, who had come to watch the premiere show with her husband Bhaskar and sons Tej and Saanvi, fell unconscious on the ground in the stampede. People fell outside Revathi and her condition deteriorated. She was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. Revathi’s husband and sons were injured. They are undergoing treatment.

A large crowd of fans had gathered in front of the theater as part of the movie’s release at 11 pm. Meanwhile, the excitement of the fans was overwhelming when the hero of the movie, Allu Arjun, his family and director Sukumar unexpectedly arrived at the theater. The police could not control the people who tried to enter the theater. With this, the police lathi-charged. The clash between the police and the people resulted in the accident.

Three people, including the theater owner, had been arrested earlier in the incident. The Hyderabad police arrested the owner of the Sandhya theater where the accident occurred, Sandeep, senior manager Nagaraju, and manager Vijay Chandra. Allu Arjun had said that he had informed the owners and the police about his arrival at the theater and had instructed them to make arrangements. However, the police had said that the star had arrived without warning and this had caused more trouble.

Mumbai: Special trains have been announced from Mumbai to Kerala to reduce congestion during the Christmas-Newer season. A special weekly train has been announced from Mumbai LTT to Kochu Veli. The train journey from Mumbai LTT to Kochu Veli will start at 4 pm on December 19, 26, January 2 and 9.

There are trains from Kochu Veli to Mumbai on December 21, 28, January 4 and 11 at 4.20 pm. The train service reaches Thiruvananthapuram Kochu Veli via Kottayam.

The High Court has cancelled the bail of four accused in the SDPI leader Shan murder case. The bail of 4 RSS-BJP activists who directly participated in the crime was cancelled.

The High Court refused to interfere with the Sessions Court order granting bail to the other five accused in the case. The High Court’s action is in response to an appeal filed by the government against the Sessions Court order granting bail to the accused.

The prosecution had earlier approached the court, claiming that the accused were granted bail in violation of the rules. However, the application to cancel the bail was rejected by Alappuzha Additional Sessions Court Judge Roy Varghese. The High Court was approached later.

On December 18, 2021, Shan was killed by a gang of five after he was hit by a car coming from behind while he was riding a scooter from Kuppezham junction on the Mannacherry-Ponnad road.

Meanwhile, in retaliation for Shan’s murder, all the accused in the murder case of BJP leader Ranjith Srinivasan were sentenced to death collectively. The trial of Shan’s murder has not yet begun.

Court summons Shobha Surendran in defamation case filed by EP Jayarajan. The order to appear Sobha on February 10, 2025 BJP leader Shobha Surendran has been summoned by the court in a defamation case filed by CPIM Central Committee member EP Jayarajan.

Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court has issued the summons. The court sent a summons to appear on February 10, 2025. The defamation case is against Shobha Surendran’s allegations that EP Jayarajan tried to join the BJP and negotiated through broker Nandakumar.

EP Jayarajan approached the court pointing out that the allegations made in the interview given to the media were false and were meant to defame him and the CPI(M).
