Accident on Pune-Mumbai Expressway; Five people were killed

Mumbai: Five people were killed in a road accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The accident took place at the Kalapur toll plaza on Tuesday morning. The dead included four members of a family. The truck, which was speeding, went out of control and crashed into two cars and a truck. Dr. Vaibhav, his mother, wife, and five-year-old daughter were killed in the accident. Their 11-year-old son was rescued with injuries, police said. Another woman in the next car was killed. Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the first phase of the high-speed internet connectivity K-FON project in Kerala today. The inauguration will take place online at 5.30 pm. The first phase of K-FON will be implemented in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram districts. In the first phase, 1000 government offices in seven districts will be connected to the Internet.

The first phase will connect 30,000 government offices across the state. K-FON will reach 5700 government offices in July. In the next phase, 20 lakh BPL families will be provided free connection. The project cost is `1531 crore. KIFB will pay 70 percent of this. Minister MM Mani will preside over the inauguration function. Finance Minister TM Thomas Isaac will attend.
