New Delhi: In Tamil Nadu, where the spread of Covid is on the rise, the current state-wide Covid lockdown restrictions have been extended to 31 this month. The state government has directed the district administrations to implement a strict lockdown code of conduct. Offices, shops, and industrial establishments will operate with restrictions. People are not allowed to go out in groups or join groups.

Police have stepped up surveillance to detect violations of the Covid protocol. Ensure wearing a mask, hand washing, and social distance. The notification also suggested a fine for spitting in public places. The state has extended the ban on international travelers. Only essential services are permitted. It is recommended that all safety precautions be taken by those over 65 years of age, those with serious illnesses, pregnant women, and those under 10 years of age.

It will be the responsibility of the local district administration, police, and municipal authorities to ensure that control measures are strictly adhered to. The government has also asked district authorities to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various activities during the lockdown.

Guidelines have also been issued for the operation of passenger trains, aircraft, metro train services, schools, institutions of higher learning, hotels and restaurants, shopping malls, multiplexes and amusement parks, yoga centers, and gymnasiums.

New Delhi: Covid vaccination for Supreme Court judges will begin tomorrow. Judges’ families and retired judges can be vaccinated from tomorrow. Arrangements for vaccination have been made at the court complex. They can be vaccinated from here or from government hospitals.

Cocaine case: Another BJP activist arrested

Kolkata: The probe into the controversial cocaine case in West Bengal extends to prominent BJP leaders. Kolkata police have arrested another BJP activist in connection with the case. Rakesh Singh, a BJP state committee member and convener of the Basti (slum) cell, has been arrested in a cocaine case involving Yuva Morcha women leader Pamela Goswami.


Amrit Singh, an activist associated with Rakesh Singh, was arrested. He was produced in Alipore court and remanded. Twelve people from Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand and 11 from West Bengal have been questioned so far in connection with the probe.
The names of the high-ups have been found in the investigation which focused on the phone call. Rakesh Singh and Goswami were associated with them. Six people have been arrested so far in the case. Police officials said more arrests would be made in connection with the case in the coming days.


Pamela Goswami, 23, state secretary of Yuva Morcha, was arrested for possession of 100 grams of cocaine worth Rs 10 lakh. Pamela Goswami had alleged that Rakesh Singh had conspired to trap her the day after her arrest.

PSLV-C51 mission successful; Amazonia One in the orbit

Bangalore: Amazonia-One has successfully launched. The PSLV-C51 rocket carrying the satellite was launched from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 10.24 am.

Brazil has launched 18 small satellites along with its observation satellite Amazonia-1. Amazonia-1 co-launched four satellites of Inspace (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center) and 14 of NSIL (New Space India Limited).
The countdown to the launch began at 8.54 am on Saturday. This is the 53rd mission of PSLV.
InSpace’s four satellites include the Satish Dhawan Satellite (SD SAT), a private company built by Space Kids India. The satellite also has an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on it.

Amazonia-1, a 637 kg Earth observation satellite, will be used to monitor deforestation in the Amazonia region and to assess Brazilian terrestrial diversity.Amazonia-1 is Brazil’s first satellite to be launched from India.

Actress assault case: Judge says six months to complete the trial

Kochi: A judge has said that it will take six months to complete the trial in the case of attacking the actress. The Registrar of the Kerala High Court submitted a letter to the Supreme Court through the Judiciary. The letter, dated January 16, written by Special Trial Court Judge Honey M Varghese, was forwarded to the Supreme Court by the Registrar (Judicial) of the High Court.
The special court judge said in a letter to the apex court that the trial petition could not be completed within the time frame prescribed by the apex court due to the prosecution’s transfer petitions and the absence of the prosecutor. The letter will be considered by a bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilker tomorrow.

The trial court was due to complete its proceedings in the first week of February, following an order issued by the Supreme Court last August. But the state government approached the court seeking to change the trial court. This demand was rejected by the Supreme Court. On November 29, 2019, a bench of Justices AM Khanwilker and Dinesh Maheshwari had directed that the trial in the case of actor Dileep be completed within six months.
