Lucknow: Seven people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh under the Compulsory Conversion Prohibition Act. Seven people have been arrested for allegedly abducting a Hindu girl from her home. The incident took place in Sitapur. The girl’s father had lodged a complaint with the police.

Police have registered a case against 8 persons in connection with the incident. Seven of them were arrested. Police said they have intensified efforts to nab the main accused. According to the complaint, the girl was abducted and the money and gold jewelry were stolen from the house by a gang of eight.

Last week, the Yogi government introduced a law against forced conversions. The ordinance carries a maximum penalty of one to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000 for forcible conversion.

Thiruvananthapuram: GPS mandatory from January 1 onwards, including on public transportation. The High Court order was issued in the public interest litigation filed by the Civil Rights Protection Council of Karunagapally, alleging that GPS was made mandatory in the State Motor Vehicle Act under the Central Motor Vehicle Act but was not enforced.

The decision was taken by a division bench comprising Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chali. KSRTC said it had taken steps to purchase GPS for 6,200 buses. At the same time, the government announced the installation of GPS in school buses and other vehicles in the state and delayed freight until December 31.

Chennai: Heavy rains lashed Tamil Nadu in the wake of Hurricane Burevi. So far 19 deaths have been reported in the state. Heavy crop damage was reported in many districts of Tamil Nadu. There are many houses damaged in many places. Heavy rains continue in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Nagapattinam, and Kallakurichi districts.

Beijing: At least 18 people killed in a gas leak in a Chinese mine. The incident happened in China’s southwestern city of Chongqing.

According to reports, 24 people were trapped in the mine.

Carbon monoxide gas at the Diaoshuidong coal mine leaked, reports added. The mishap was occurred at about 5 p.m. This is the region’s second such accident in just over two months.

 At least 16 deaths were reported in late September after high levels of carbon monoxide trapped miners at the Songzao coal mine in Chongqing.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Covid vaccine will be given at a cheaper rate. Modi said three vaccines were being tested in the country and would be ready for distribution in a few weeks.

He said the vaccine would be given to Covid Front fighters first. He was speaking at an all-party meeting to assess the situation in the country.

The Prime Minister said that there are highly skilled people to deliver the vaccine to the entire population of the country and make the most of their potential.

New Delhi: The SNC Lavalin case has been postponed again. The court accepted the CBI’s request for more time. The case was heard by a three-judge bench headed by Justice U U Lalith. Dissatisfied with the continuous transfer of the case, the court directed the CBI to submit additional documents by January 7. The case is set to return to court on January 7.

The court asked the CBI to come up with strong arguments in the case where the two courts had taken the same decision. The Kerala High Court had acquitted Pinarayi Vijayan, K. Mohan Chandran, and A.Francis in the Lavalin case.
