Mumbai: The Navy has recovered the bodies of 37 people who died in a barge sinking off the coast of Mumbai. So far, the Navy has rescued 188 people. 3838 are yet to be found. The search for them continues. Six Navy ships and helicopters are on the rescue mission. There were 29 Malayalees in the barge. Of these, 22 have been confirmed safe. They were shifted to a hotel in Belapur.

The Papa 305 barge sank after an anchor exploded on Monday following Hurricane Tauktea. The rescue operation was difficult amid the high waves. Everyone on the other barges that were in danger during the hurricane was safe. Sagar Bhushan, one of the oil rigs, was stranded and 196 people were rescued from one of the barges providing accommodation to 101 people. Another 137 people were rescued from another barge called the Gaul Constructor.
