Rahul Easwar Taken to Technopark Office for Evidence Collection

0

Thiruvananthapuram: Police on Wednesday took activist Rahul Easwar into custody for evidence collection at his Technopark office in a case related to insulting the survivor who had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Rahul Mankoottil.

Police argued in court that the videos Rahul Easwar made in support of Mankoottil involved a larger conspiracy, requiring further investigation. Based on this, police sought permission to take him to his office for verification.

He was questioned for nearly three hours before evidence was collected. According to police, the controversial videos were filmed inside his Technopark office. They suspect organised involvement and say further technical inspection is required.

Rahul Easwar alleged that he is being framed and announced that he would continue his hunger strike in jail. He has been shifted to a hospital due to fatigue after continuing his fast in Poojappura Jail.

The survivor had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Police, following which Rahul was initially booked under bailable sections. After detailed investigation, non-bailable charges, including insulting womanhood, intimidation and misuse of electronic systems, were added. These offences carry imprisonment of up to two years.

A magistrate court in Vanchiyoor had earlier denied him bail, agreeing with the prosecution’s argument that Rahul is a repeat offender and granting bail would adversely affect the case. His fresh bail plea will be considered on Saturday.

Pakistan Rebuilds Terror Bases Destroyed by India: BSF

0

New Delhi: Pakistan has rebuilt 72 terror camps that were destroyed by India during Operation Sindoor, the Border Security Force (BSF) has revealed. The operation was launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, and the Indian Air Force conducted strikes on terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Six months after the airstrike, BSF Inspector General Ashok Yadav and DIG Kulwant Raj Sharma confirmed that many destroyed facilities have been reconstructed and reactivated. They noted that the number of terrorists operating in these centres keeps fluctuating, as militants do not stay there permanently. The camps become active mainly when Pakistan attempts to push terrorists across the border.

Yadav added that Pakistan often tries to infiltrate militants before the onset of winter, when low visibility may provide cover. However, India’s advanced surveillance systems are actively monitoring sensitive locations, and the BSF remains committed to preventing infiltration attempts.

Centre Renames PMO Complex as Seva Teerth

0

New Delhi: The Central Government has decided to name the newly constructed complex that will house the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as Seva Teerth. The complex, built as part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, is intended to replace the South Block, where the PMO has functioned for the past seventy-eight years.

Along with the PMO, the complex will accommodate the Cabinet Secretariat, the National Security Council Secretariat and India House, a venue for high-level diplomatic discussions. Three buildings are being constructed near Vayu Bhavan as part of Executive Enclave-1, and the PMO will move into the first of these buildings, now renamed Seva Teerth-1.

Originally referred to as the Executive Enclave, the complex has been renamed to reflect the philosophy that governance is a service rather than power, with “Seva” meaning service and “Teerth” denoting a sacred place. The government had earlier renamed Raj Bhavans as Lok Bhavans, the Central Secretariat as Kartavya Bhavan, Rajpath as Kartavya Path, and Race Course Road as Lok Kalyan Marg. Officials said these renamings signify a shift in the government’s mindset toward service and duty.
