Bangalore: Eight killed in lorry-jeep collision in Karnataka. The incident took place at Marinayakanahalli in Chintamani taluk. Three people were injured in the accident.
The dead were day laborers who had gone to Andhra Pradesh. The dead included two women and four men.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, police said. Chintamani MLA K Krishna Reddy visited the accident site.
Thiruvananthapuram: Widespread rains in the state due to low pressure in the northeastern Bay of Bengal. The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala for two more days. North Kerala will receive more rainfall.
Today, yellow alerts have been issued in ten districts. Isolated showers will continue in all districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, and Pathanamthitta. Alert will be issued in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts tomorrow.
New Delhi: Death within 30 days with covid is considered to be due to covid. The Central Government has informed the Supreme Court that it has set new standards in calculating Covid deaths. The government told the apex court that the standards, jointly formulated by the central government and the Medical Research Council of India, were issued on September 3. According to the revised criteria, if a patient dies within 30 days of being caught covid, it will be added to the list of covid deaths. If the patient dies in the hospital or at an outpatient center, it is no longer considered a covid death.
The covid test can be performed to determine if the patient is covid or not by a doctor-supervised test.
But if a person dies due to suicide, homicide or accidents, even if he had covid, it cannot be listed as covid deaths. If there is any complaint in the death certificate, the relatives of the deceased can approach the grievance redressal cell formed on a district basis.
Kozhikode: Health Minister Veena George said that 15 more samples in the Nipah contact list were negative. So far 123 samples have been negative.
The Minister said that precautionary activities will continue as part of the Nipah defense. The health minister said the report of the central team would be available within two days and the source check would continue. The minister added that zero prevalence studies are being conducted on children in connection with the opening of the school.
At the same time, the test results of bats and sheep collected in the first phase were negative. Sample test results of 22 sheep and bats collected from Chathamangalam in the first phase were also negative yesterday evening. The sample was tested at the Institute of Virology in Bhopal.
Thiruvananthapuram: A major robbery took place on a train from Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram. The victims were three women from Tamil Nadu. Kausalya, Vijayalakshmi, and her daughter Aishwarya were traveling on the Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Express when they were robbed.
Vijayalakshmi was robbed of 10 sovereigns of gold, two mobile phones, and cash. Three women were found unconscious by railway employees after the train ended its journey in Thiruvananthapuram this morning. They were later admitted to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
Railway police have registered a case and are investigating. Police suspect that the robbery may have been carried out after making them unconscious by food. The three have said to the police that they had bought food from outside. The Railway Police said that a detailed statement will be recorded as the health condition of the three admitted to the hospital improves.
New Delhi: The pilot of the Karipur plane crash was found to have erred in following the procedure, according to an investigation report. In addition, the investigation report states that there are 16 reasons behind the accident. The report highlights poor human resource policy, poor crew resource management, lack of climate change notifications, and lack of plane landing guidelines.
There were 190 people on board at the time of the accident. Twenty-one people were killed and several others were injured, including two pilots. Air India Express B737-800 crashed while landing at Kozhikode International Airport on August 7 last year. The plane, which was coming from Dubai, overtook the runway at Kozhikode airport and crashed into pieces.
A year after the crash of the Air India Express, the report said, “The accident was caused by the PF (pilot flying – the pilot who flew the plane) not following SOP (standard procedures).”
“The pilot who flew the plane continued its unstable approach and went beyond the touchdown zone,” the report said. “Halfway down the runway, despite the call to ‘go around, it failed to comply,” the report said.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of isolated heavy rains in the state today. A yellow alert was declared in four districts. The yellow alert was issued in Ernakulam, Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

Cape Town: The third phase trial of Sinovac, a covid vaccine for children, has been started in South Africa. Sinovac, a Chinese pharmaceutical company, has partnered with African company Pneumovax Group to launch the trial.
The third phase will test the safety, efficiency, and immunity of children between the ages of 6 months and 17 years, according to Sinovac.
The vaccine has been used in China since May after the inactivated Sinovac vaccine was shown to be effective in people between the ages of 3 and 17.
Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said all the samples tested for Nipah, so far, were negative and no one was in critical condition.
94 people showed symptoms of fever but none of them were found to be in contact with the infected person. The minister said the data collection was completed focusing on houses in the containment zone and the vigil would continue for 21 days.
Meanwhile, Forest Minister AK Sasindran said the spread of the disease was under control in the current situation. Minister AK Sasindran said that the absence of positive cases in the contact list was a relief and that the best preventive measures were being taken under the leadership of the Health Minister.
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has said that it is not practical to conduct the Plus One exam online. Kerala has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court. The government wants to allow written exams.
The state government has said that all safety norms have been prepared for the exam. In April, the Kerala government had successfully conducted the SSLC and plus two examinations. Engineering examinations were also conducted successfully. But conducting the exam online is not practical. The government affidavit states that there are students who do not even have access to a mobile phone and if they decide to take the exam online, they will not be able to do so. Students will be able to successfully complete the Plus Two course only if they take the Plus One exam. Therefore, in the affidavit, the government demanded that the written test be allowed and that the state government reject the public interest litigations.
The government has assured the Supreme Court that special facilities will be provided to Plus One students affected by covid. According to the affidavit, the facilities have been set up in such a way that not even a single student can be infected. The central government has warned that the third wave will come in October. Therefore, the state government has said it is ready to conduct the exam before the end of this month. As there are problems with internet access, it is advisable to take a written test to prevent the leakage of question papers, the government said in the affidavit.
