Kochi: The Marakkar Arabi Kadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Mohanlal, has been shortlisted for the Oscars. Marakkar has been shortlisted by India for the Global Community Oscar Awards-2021. Surya starrer Tamil film Jai Bhim has also been shortlisted for the Oscars. The film has been shortlisted for the Best Feature Film category. Voting for the Oscar nominations will run from Thursday, January 27 to Tuesday, February 1.
Marakkar won the National Award for Best Feature Film, Special Effects, and Costume Design. The film, which was released in theaters on December 2 last year, was also released on December 17 on Amazon Prime. Apart from Mohanlal, Nedumudi Venu, Manju Warrier, Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Keerthi Suresh, Mukesh, Sunil Shetty, Arjun, Innocent and Mamukoya are also in the cast. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Confident Group under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
