Colleges will not be opened in Karnataka; Prohibition in Mysore and Udupi

Bangalore: The government has said that educational institutions from pre-university in Karnataka will not be open till Wednesday. The final decision will be taken after the meeting tomorrow.

Strong security arrangements have been put in place in case of classes one to ten open on Monday. The government also directed district administrations to convene peace meetings in conflict-prone areas.

Educational institutions in the state have been closed following the hijab controversy. The problems started when Muslim students wearing hijab were denied admission to colleges in Udupi due to pressure from Sangh Parivar organizations. The ban then spread to schools in various districts. The High Court had yesterday issued an interim order directing the schools to reopen. The High Court had also imposed a ban on religious dress in schools.

Meanwhile, rallies and protests were banned in Mysore. The action was taken under Section 144 of the CRPC in the wake of the protest called on the issue of hijab. Prohibition orders will remain in effect until 10 pm tonight. A prohibition has been issued in Udupi also.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala till Wednesday. The rain was due to strong east winds.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki districts are likely to receive showers in the coming days. Thundershowers and winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour are expected.

Seven districts in the state are likely to receive showers today. The monsoon is expected in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts. Isolated showers are likely in these districts. No alerts were issued.

Vasudevan, who was going on a bicycle, came down to help Biju. Vasudevan is Pattanakkad native. Biju was repairing the tire of the punctured van on the Ponnamveli National Highway in Alappuzha.

Thrissur-Pudukad train service resumed

Thiruvananthapuram: Trekking in the state will not be easy without the permission of the forest department. The government decided to bring strict controls and guidelines for trekking in the state. The move after Babu, a young man from Malampuzha, Cheratmalayukki tapped in the mountain for two days.

According to reports, trekking is permitted only in the areas in which the presence of wildlife animals is little. Only allow trekking in areas specified by the Forest Department. Medical Fitness Certificate from a Government Doctor, First Aid facilities, food, and water should be assured. The presence of the doctor on the call should also be ensured. The application should be submitted with full personal details and proof of identity.

Most of the control areas of the forest department are not allowed for trekking. However, there is no definite guideline from the government in this regard. Meanwhile, the Central Government has issued strict guidelines in this regard earlier.

Manufacturers are advised to adjust the rear seat belt so that it fits snugly in the middle seat.

Gadkari also said that the number of airbags in vehicles will be changed. 6 airbags will be mandatory in vehicles carrying up to 8 passengers. Vehicle safety features will also be given a star rating. An electronic stability control system will be installed to prevent the vehicle from losing control.
