Tax on stage carriages: extended to March 31;Minister Antony Raju

Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister Antony Raju has extended the deadline for paying tax on stage carriages in the state till March 31 in the last quarter of this financial year. The deadline for paying last quarter’s vehicle tax was February 14th. The minister issued the order considering the decline in revenue of stage carriages due to the expansion of Omicron.

Hijab is not allowed; Status quo should continue in Karnataka till final verdict

Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court has directed the people not to wear religious attire till the final verdict on the hijab issue in Karnataka. The status quo will continue till the final order in the case. The court also asked the colleges to reopen as soon as possible.
Until then, the court said, one should not be forced to wear religious clothing. The High Court also directed the media not to report oral references made while considering the case.
Earlier, the High Court had referred the case to a single bench.

Central Government Revised Guidelines for international Travelers

New Delhi: The Central government has revised the guidelines for international travelers in the wake of the decline of covid. The requirement for foreigners to stay in the compulsory quarantine for seven days was waived.

The list of risk countries has been omitted. It was imposed in the wake of the spread of the Omicron variant. The new recommendation is to stay in self-monitoring for 14 days if you have symptoms, instead of the requirement of seven days’ compulsory quarantine. The new guidelines will come into effect from Monday, the Union Health Ministry said.

According to the new guidelines, all foreigners are required to fill up a self-declaration form online, including travel information for the past 14 days. The form is available on the Air Convenience web portal.

RTPCR Negative Certificate made within 72 hours of travel date must also be uploaded. Alternatively, a certificate of receipt of the two-dose vaccine may be required. The Ministry has published a list of 72 countries where the vaccine certificate is accepted.

Those who show symptoms upon arrival at the airport will be transferred to the hospital. Those under the age of five are exempted from pre-and post-trip checks. However, they should also be tested for symptoms.

Thiruvananthapuram: The crime branch has filed a charge sheet against the second accused Swapna Suresh in the case of filing a false complaint against an Air India official. The charge sheet was filed in the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.

Members of the internal investigation committee are also involved in the case, which has a total of 10 accused. The first accused is Vinoy Jacob, Vice Chairman, Air India SATS. According to the charge sheet, the second accused, Swapna, made the false allegation. The finding against the Internal Investigation Commission is that it conspired to create a false complaint against the officer.

Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Ashish Mishra, the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri massacre case and son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra. Bail was granted by the Lucknow Bench of the High Court. Four people were killed when a car rammed into a group of farmers protesting against the central agricultural policies and four people were killed when the cars were set on fire. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, the accused will be released on bail on the day of the first phase of polling. The SIT has filed a 5,000-page charge sheet against Ajay Mishra.

The main accused in the case are Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, while Virender Shukla, a relative and confidant of the minister, and Ankit Das, a relative of former Congress MP Akhilesh Das, are on the list. Ashish Mishra and 13 others have been charged with murder, attempted murder with a weapon, and criminal conspiracy.

The PPE kit costs Rs 154 per unit for XL size and Rs 156 for double XL size. The maximum amount for XL and the double XL size is Rs 175. The minimum price for an N95 mask is Rs 5.50 and the maximum is Rs 15. The minister said strict action would be taken against those who levied excessive charges.

The predetermined rates are Rs 500 for RTPCR, Rs 300 for antigen, Rs 2,500 for Expert NAT, Rs 1,500 for TruNAT and Rs 1,150 for RT lamp.
