Quetta: 19 people died and 14 were injured when a bus overturned into Ravine in Pakistan. A local official said the bus, which was on its way to Quetta from Rawalpindi, skidded off the road near Danizar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Lucknow: Four people died after a gas cylinder exploded during a wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened in Vikrampur. Three women and a girl are among the dead. Three people were injured. The Jalalabad police said that the cause of the accident was a gas leak from the regulator. Police added that the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

Thiruvananthapuram: The central government has again increased the price of kerosene. There has been an increase of 14 rupees per liter this time. Kerosene rose from Rs 88 to Rs 102 per litre.
In May, the price of a liter of kerosene was Rs 84. It increased by Rs 4 to Rs 88 in June. This has been increased again from the 1st of this month. Kerosene is supplied from ration shops with the addition of freight charges, dealers commission, CGST and SGST to the base price. The central government had increased the prices in June, but the increase was not implemented in the state. Still subsidized kerosene is distributed at Rs 84 through ration shops.
Food Minister G R Anil informed that the Commissioner of Public Distribution Department has been instructed to distribute kerosene to the card holders at this price till the stock runs out.
Thiruvananthapuram: Former MLA PC George, who was arrested on a molestation complaint, has been granted conditional bail. The museum police arrested George on the complaint of the woman who is accused in the solar case. George was then produced in the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court and granted bail with strict conditions. The bail comes with conditions including to cooperate with the investigation, to appear before the investigating officers if requested and not to influence the complainant. The case has been registered under sections 354, 354 A of the Indian Penal Code. On February 10, George summoned the woman to the Thaticaud guest house to talk about the matter related to Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case. George called the complainant to the guest house with her son and auto driver to room no.404. The son was taken out with the driver. According to the complaint, George then spoke sexually and forced her to have sex. The complaint also states that after she refused, she was forced and harassed. PC George was summoned by the special investigation team yesterday morning for questioning in the case in which Swapna Suresh and PC George were accused. In the meantime, the complainant lodged a complaint with the museum police CI.
George was taken into custody under the leadership of Fort Assistant Commissioner VS Binuraj after the interrogation by the Special Investigation Team.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Local Self-Government Excise Minister MV Govindan Master has informed that all gram panchayat offices in the state will work today for the file settlement drive. Panchayat Director Office and Deputy Director Offices will function. The staff will carry out file processing-related activities in the offices. Other services will not be available to the public tomorrow. The minister appreciated all the employees who are present for work for file settlement.
The drive for file disposal is from June 15 to September 30. The Chief Minister had directed all the employees to take one day off in a month to resolve the pending files. A part of this is the process of making every holiday from July to September a working day. Minister MV Govindan Master asked all the employees to take the necessary steps to clear the pending files immediately. The Local Self-Government Department is making good efforts to clear the pending files. The minister also informed that more energetic measures will be taken.
New Delhi: The central government has increased the import duty on gold from 7.5 percent to 12.5 percent. The explanation is that the government’s action is aimed at reducing consumption.
The rise in imports has put pressure on the rupee and the tariff hike has been announced in haste. The trade deficit hit a record high of $24.3 billion in May.
The increase in the import of gold is nine times as compared to the same period of the previous year. In the month of May alone, gold worth 61,000 crores ($7.7 billion) was imported. India has the second place in gold consumption in the world.
Most of the gold required in the country depends on imports. In the last year’s budget, the import duty of gold was reduced to 7.5 percent. Despite the fall in the global market, the gold price in the country recorded a surge after the duty was increased. Gold prices in the state increased by Rs 960 to Rs 38,280. The previous day’s price was Rs 37,320. In the country’s commodity market MCX, the price of 10 grams of 24 carat gold rose by three percent to Rs 51,900.
Thrissur: An investigation has been started in the case of the death of a student due to rabies after she was bitten by a pet dog at her neighbor’s house. Under the leadership of DMO KP Reetha, they went to the house in Mankara and collected the information. Sugunan-Sindhu’s daughter Srilakshmi (19) died at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital on Friday at Manjakkara West. She is a student of BCA in Coimbatore College. The DMO will submit a report to the health department on Saturday.
There is no fault in giving the vaccine to the student. On the day of the bite, the wound was cleaned. The vaccine is given at regular intervals. It was found that the dog was not vaccinated.
On the day the student was bitten, the locals beat the dog to death because it bit the owner of the house and two others. Therefore, the behavior of the dog cannot be studied. Can’t test for rabies. The details of those who interacted with the dog on that day have been collected. Arriving at Srilakshmi’s house, preventive measures were taken.
Those who came in contact with the patient and the bitten dog will be vaccinated. A doctor at the Medical College Hospital who sustained a minor injury during the treatment has been given an injection. Srilakshmi was bitten on the fingers by the pet dog on May 30. She immediately reached Palakkad District Hospital and took the vaccine. As there was more wound, she went to Thrissur Medical College Hospital and injected serum.
Then three more doses of vaccine were taken. Two of these were taken from Palakkad District Hospital and one from a private hospital. All the vaccines were received by June twenty-sixth, but the fever started the next day.
She was treated at a private hospital in Mankara and Thrissur Medical College but died in the early hours of the previous day. After the incident, the Rapid Response Team, formed for the investigation on the directives of the Health Minister, met on Friday and assessed the details of the treatment given to Sree Lakshmi.
