Ahmedabad: 2 die after drinking spurious liquor in Gujarat. Two people died in Gujarat’s Junagadh district. The health condition of Rafeeq Gokhari and his friend deteriorated after consuming fake liquor. They were then rushed to the hospital, where both died on the way. The bodies have been kept at the civil hospital for post-mortem. After hearing the information, MLA Bhikha Galajoshi reached the hospital. The family members of the deceased have also gathered at the hospital demanding an investigation into the incident.

RBI to launch e-rupee from December 1

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India will launch the e-Rupee from December 1. It is estimated that the digital rupee will help make financial transactions easier and faster. E-Rupee will be a medium of exchange in addition to current currency notes.

Meanwhile, it will be implemented in selected cities in the first phase. In the second phase, e-Rupees will be available in Kochi as well. The notes will be of the same value as the paper currency, RBI said. No interest is earned on e-Rs. It can be converted into cash like bank deposits when needed. In the first phase, it will be released through four banks including SBI.

Thiruvananthapuram: The 27th IFFK will be held in Thiruvananthapuram from December 9 to 16. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the festival at Nishagandhi Auditorium, Thiruvananthapuram on December 9th. Minister VN Vasavan will preside. Culture Minister VN Vasavan announced in a press conference that 184 films from 70 countries will be screened at the film festival organized by the Kerala State Film Academy. The minister also said that Hungarian director Bela Thar, who has become a legend in world cinema through his films of philosophical dignity, has been selected for the IFFK Lifetime Achievement Award. The award consists of ten lakh rupees and a sculpture.

Bela Thar’s six films will be exhibited at the fair, presenting a unique narrative style with a philosophical approach to human problems. It includes some of his best films, The Turin Horse and Werkmeister Harmonies. Bela Thar, who is coming to India for the first time, will be awarded the award by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the closing ceremony on December 16. Film Academy to publish ‘Kalathinte Irulbhoopadangnal’ written by C S Venkateswaran giving a comprehensive introduction to Bela Thar’s film career.

Avatar 2 will not release in Kerala; FEUOK with prohibition

Kochi: James Cameron’s Hollywood film Avatar 2 release crisis in Kerala. The theater owners have said that they will not cooperate with the release of the film as the makers are asking for 60 percent of the theater collection. The theater owners’ association, FEUOK, has taken a stand not to cooperate with the release of Avatar 2.  FEUOK, informed that 50-55 percent is usually given to foreign language films. The owners informed that they were sending the agreement directly to the theaters without prior notification for the release.

It has been decided that the film will not be released in all the 400 theaters under FEUOK. Avatar 2 will get 50 percent of the revenue in states other than Tamil Nadu. avatar; The Way of Water is released in six languages in India. The film will be released in theaters on December 16. The first part of Avatar was released in 2009. Avatar still holds the top spot in the history of world cinema with record collections. The second part of Avatar is coming after a gap of thirteen years.
The film is made with an investment of 2000 crores.

Abu Dhabi: Next year’s public holidays have been announced in the UAE. Holidays are January 1, New Year’s Day, April 20 to 23 Eid-ul-Fitr, June 27 to 30 Eid al-Adha, July 21, the beginning of the Hijra year, and September 29, the Nabi Dinam. The holiday was announced by the UAE Cabinet. The holiday will apply to both the public sector and private sector.

A uniform schedule for public and private sectors is issued in the UAE to ensure equal days off for employees. Some of the holidays mentioned in the list are based on the Hijri Islamic calendar. Lunar eclipses are also crucial when calculating similar days in the Gregorian calendar.

Do not give antibiotics for minor fever and lung disease; ICMR with guidance

New Delhi:  Indian Council of Medical Research with guidelines not to give antibiotics for minor fever and viral bronchitis (lung disease). ICMR advises doctors to be careful while prescribing medicines.

Antibiotics should only be given for five days for infections that are superficial to the skin and affect tissues. Community-acquired pneumonia can be treated with antibiotics for five days and for hospital-acquired pneumonia for eight days. Empirical antibiotic therapy should be given only for community-acquired pneumonia, ventilator-acquired pneumonia, severe sepsis, septic shock, and flesh-eating bacteria, ICMR reports said.

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister Ahmed Devarkovil said that Vizhinjam’s violent strike is not acceptable. Vizhinjam protesters come with new demands. Ahmed Dewar Kovil said that the protesters have violated the assurance given to the court. Minister P Rajeev said that there was a planned attempt behind the Vizhinjam violence. The government has the right approach to every problem.

Police are keeping calm. The minister added that no one has been evicted for the project. The league also demanded that an all-party meeting should be called on the Vizhinjam strike. PK Kunhalikutty clarified that there is no need to add fuel to the fire. UDF is not against the project.

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister R Bindu said a four-year undergraduate course will be started in Kerala next year. Students can terminate the course after completing three years of study. In Thiruvananthapuram, the Minister said that arrangements have been made for this purpose so that there is no extra workload for the teachers.

The model curriculum will be discussed at the university level to the college level. The minister also stated that the revised curriculum will be implemented in the universities after evaluating the amendments that arise there.

Thiruvananthapuram:  State Government freezes Silverline proceedings. The new notification for social impact studies after central approval. The revenue department has issued an order in this regard.

The officials tasked with acquiring the land were recalled. Personnel will be redeployed to other essential projects. Eleven units were tasked with land acquisition.

Meanwhile, Minister P Rajan said he would respond to the matter after studying the order freezing Silverline. P. Rajeev stated that the preparations were made to avoid delay and that he would go ahead with the project if he gets the central approval.
