Story :
Dileep’s 100th film ‘Kaaryasthan’ revolves around the story of a feud between two families named as Puthezhath and Kizhakkedath, headed by two Karanavars (played by Madhu & G K Pillai) in a village called Krishnapuram .The two families who were in great companionship in the olden days were forced to fight each other after a bitter happening and a death that occurred subsequently during the marriage of Rajan (Siddique) son of Madhu.Siddique is then forced to flee from the place to a village in Tamil Nadu, with his wife. After several years, Rajan’s son Krishnanunni (Dileep) comes back to Krishnapuram as a Kariyasthan, to bring the two families together once again. But he soon learns that it was never going to be an easy task. During his stay there, Krishnanunni falls in love with Sreebala (Akhila), who belongs to the Puthezhathu tharavadu where he is employed.The movie then goes on to tell how Krishnanunni manages to clear of the ambiguities in the events that really created the rifts and how he wins the hearts of both the Karanavars as well to end up fruitfully in his mission.
Perfomance :
In the acting front Dileep is good at times and painfully boring at other sequences.Akhila makes a decent entry into Malayalam films, and looks and acts like a charm.She has great energy levels and good dancing skills. Senior actors like Madhu, G K Pillai and Siddique manages their roles safely with least efforts.Suraj Venjarammood is in top form and makes things humorous with his antics.Salim Kumar, Harishree Ashokan and Thesni Khan fail miserably to get things going in their side track.
Music :
The music by Berny-Ignatious are hummable and are pictured with plenty of colors. The song with serial stars in typical ‘Om Shanti Om’ model was successfull to a certain extent.
Direction :
Director Thomson doesn’t experiment much here and has often used the highly conventional pattern of narration, while making Kariyasthan.You can find every emotion in the required measures that would be essential in a formulaic film.
Overall verdict:
Kariyasthan certainly follows the same old formula, but even then it is a fairly enjoyable ride.Though a bit lengthy at more than two hours and forty five minutes, the film has some hilarious situations and is a fairly decent effort in general, if you don’t have a problem with its rather jaded storyline.

Story :
Niranjan (Prithviraj) is Deputy Commissioner of Police, who is investigating into the murder of Simon Palathinkal, the scion of a wealthy business empire, who lived life on his own terms. Niranjan who happened to see Simon dying and two dreaded criminals fleeing from the spot, tries to unveil the mystery behind the murder nd before long zeroes in on Martin Dinakar (Sampath) a Dubai based underworld pin, with whom the murdered man had major issues with.
Perfomance :
Prithviraj is the total focus here and the actor has been presented quite like a superhero. He has the charm for sure and looks quite convincing in those scenes where he has to prove his valour.Supporting him with equal ease is Tamil star Sampath, who delivers his recent best as Martin Divakar. Infact, it is the performance of both of these actors that catapult the movie .The rest of the cast including Siddique, Lalu Alex and Vijayaraghavan, have done their jobs fine. The heroine, Catherine’s presence is mainly limited to a song sequence and a few scenes.
Music :
The songs by Dharan are just average,while The BG scores by Shaanmon are quite impressive.
Direction :
B Unnikrishnan has relied on a genre that holds scant novelty for the present-day audiences.The story gets into the same old good versus bad mould. Besides, the story has been stretched unnecessarily and the climax, which should’ve been a high point, doesn’t rise to the expected mark.The film was expected to work on certain levels and it often does. But unfortunately, those levels aren’t much that would make an edge-of-the-eat thriller. And when it doesn’t move an inch further that what is expected, it merely remains a fast and loud film that makes the same noise that dozens of films before it have produced.
Overall verdict:
‘The Thriller’ has its limitations due to its oft-repeated theme.It is meant for the hardcore fans of Prithviraj. For the rest of the world, the film may be interesting in parts, at best.

The pooja ceremony of Viji Thampi’s latest movie ‘Natakame Ulakam’ was held recently.The function was attended by Actors Mukesh and Vinu Mohan along with Actresses Sarayu and Saranya Mohan.
The movie is based on a story by Sajan Cholayil and will be scripted by Saseendran Vadakara.The movie has Mukesh,Vinu Mohan and Jagadheesh in the lead.Sarayu and Saranya Mohan will be the heroines.
‘Natakame Ulakam’ will also feature Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Siddhique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Salimkumar, K P A C Lalitha and Resmy Boban in its cast lines. The movie will have music by Johnson.

The pooja ceremony of much anticipated movie ‘Lavender’ and it Switch on function was held at Cochin and Dubai respectively.The ceremony in Cochin was held at Hotel Avenue Centre, Panampilly Nagar.The occasion was graced by the presence of Megastar Mammootty,Actor Rahamn,Director Joshiy,Anoop Menon and many others.Lavender Switch on function held in Dubai saw eminent Directors from the Malayalam film industry like Ranjith,Lal Jose,TK Rajeevkumar,Roshan Andrews and Saji Surendran. Edavela Babu, Tamil actor Arya, Vineeth Srinivasan and Antony Perumbavoor were also present.
Debutant Althas T. Ali is directing the film `Lavender’. Jimmy Mathew is producing the film under the banner of Council Films. Anoop Menon has scripted screenplay. Mohthazeb and Jonathan Brigal are the cinematographers. Rafeeq Ahmed is the lyricist. Deepak Dev has scored the music. Tamil songs penned by Vairamuthu are also included in the film. Promo song of this film has scored by A.R. Rehman and sound mixing has done by Resul Pookutty.

Pooja ceremony of the movie ‘Aan Piranna Veedu’ which is directed by K P Sunil was held at Cochin. ‘Neelathamara’ fame Kailash will be hero of the movie along with Meghna as the heronie.The ceremony was attended by Kailash along with music director M Jayachandran.
