However, its a sad factor that, a Malayali face is going to debut in the Tamil industry. Earlier, Parvati was expected to enter the Malayalam Film industry through Mohanlal film, “Kandahar”, but she was changed then. Billa 2 sequel to Billa, had Huma Qureshi, as the heroine, but she was replaced by Parvati, as Huma is still on another project. Parvati had her debut earlier in a Hindi movie, “United 6”. All the best wishes for the beautiful lady for her new career.

The very famous lady in lead, Padmapriya is another face of hardwork. She is a heroine with character. She even decided that she would quit acting, if there aint good roles. Her unsubstitutable talent was seen in her performance in Pazhassiraja. As a supporting statement for this hardwork of hers, she declared that she would even go nude to clearly take the given character to the audience. Unbelievable! But understanding the narrow mindness of malayali audience she is reserving this decision with Tamil films. She has shown her talent in ‘Satham Podathe’, ‘Pattiyal’, ‘Thavamay Thavamirunde’, ‘Pokisham’ etc in the Tamil Industry. But dont know why, she cant raise herself as a so called “star”. ‘Naayika’, ‘Snehaveedu’ are her two recent releases in Malayalam. Hats Off to her courageous decision, but will it wound the society’s ethics?

Makaramanju is one of the most beautiful films in Malayalam.
In the olden day’s movies with lesser dialogues, pathetic subjects, tragic stories, dragging scenes, insufferable music were considered Art films. People had in mind that art films are made to buy awards and these unbearable films will bore them to death. Now time has changed, these films which doesn’t have regular dance and comedy numbers are high in quality and entertainment value.
Plot
The idea of film is based on the painting of Urvashi and Pururavas. Makaramanju comprehends the story of romance between painter Ravi Varma and Sugandha Devi and it is intertwined with the mythological character Pururavas and Urvashi.
The film which celebrates art visually goes deep into the mind of the protagonist and troubles he had to go through in order to get his artistic expression done. Makaramanju also features women who passed through the painter’s controversial life.
Cinematography
Madhu Ambat’s cinematography is at par with the standards of Hollywood, no doubt about that. Makaramanju sure is a text book for upcoming cinematographers and people interested in colors.
Dialogues
Many scenes haven’t got dialogues. The films dialogues were not very natural and it’s done purposefully. Unlike Urumi viewers can understand what the characters are saying.
Music
Music director of Art house cinema, Ramesh Narayan did fine job.
Acting
On acting front Santhosh Sivan has got the look but his acting is average.
The main lead Karthika Nair did wonderful job. Karthika is the daughter of former actress Radha. Nithya Menon, Lakshmi Sharma, Shamna Kassim, Chitra Iyer, Mallika Kapoor have all dedicated their beauty for this splendiferous attempt. Mallika Kapoor was introduced in Malayalam by Vinayan.
Saiju kurup has appeared as brother of Raja Ravi Varma, Jagathy was just reshuffling his old comedy numbers.
Sensuality
Makaramanju traverse through artistic exploration of female sexuality. This finely executed movie is a must watch for serious connoisseurs of cinema as it can be called a masterpiece from director Lenin Rajendran. As the camera lingers around the fine details of anatomy of women, the film oozes explosive amount of sensuality.
There are many bold scenes in the movie, so it is recommended not to take your family with you. There is no better way to tell the life of an artist Ravi Varma. Lenin proved again to be a master craftsman.
Verdict – Anyone who enjoys films above comedy skits will be able to enjoy this mist of Capricorn.

Review By : Thanseer M.A/ Kerala9.com
Every filmmaker claims their upcoming film to be ‘different’, and in most cases the movie won’t have anything novel or will be a copy of foreign film. But there is one director who won’t claim this, but wins most times. Sathyan Anthikkad started directing films in 1982, since than most of his hit films tell the story of local villagers. When ever he tried something new, people didn’t accept it. This is true even in the case of his last film ‘Kadha Thudarunnu’. Like his other films, the locations are village greenery. First half has good comedy, (not the type of Suraj) and it’s the suspense that drives the story to the climax.
Script
The beginning scenes in first half of Sneha Veedu are made to introduce many characters but they had little importance in film. The film mostly goes through the situations and characters we saw earlier in other films for eg. Innocent is like the character done by Mammookoya in Cheppu Kilukkana Changathy, situations of Minnaram and Rasathantram pop into our mind while watching the movie.
The reason given for suspense is so implausible and may prove disastrous for the movie.
Some dialogues about his past are made in to remind us of film ‘Varavelppu’ and gossips heard about Mohanlal’s life.
Performance
Mohanlal was in form with his natural comedy. Padmapriya grabbed some attention while her hair was overdone in introduction scene. Rahul Pillai has given matured performance. Biju Menon, Innocent, K.P.S.C Lalitha, Lena, Chembil Ashokan have all done their part well.
Sheela acts as Ammukutty Amma while Mohanlal is Ajayan who left his home to make money. He returned from gulf and settled in his village to be with his mother and to enjoy country life. When a teenager Karthik (Rahul Pillai) arrives to claim as son of Ajayan the equilibrium crumbles.
Music
Songs and BGM by Ilayaraja are soothing.
Technical aspect
The film moves fast. Venu’s camera and editing by Rajagopal are fine as usual.
Overall verdict – Sneha Veedu is an okay movie from Sathyan Anthikkad, Nothing new to expect.

The so called ‘debar’ which was put upon South Indian star in demand, Nitya Menon is in its way to altercation. Famous social networks like Facebook and Google Buzz are in form to support the lady’s innocency. In an interview, the actress cleared her part by saying that, Cinema is not her passion and she wont bow down herself for a chance. The lady who gained numerous fans through her dazzling role in Urumi, is in full confidence to raise against the prohibition. The messenger between Nitya Menon and the team of producers were not a mere manager, instead she is one of the leading Director in the Telugu Film Industry, Nitya’s best pal. In such a scenario, the social talk is that, the producers dehandled their official powers against her, which came out of simple “ego”. She also pointed that, she already refused in cast in “Chattakari” produced by Suresh Kumar, and that the producer knew it from the very beginning. Comments of movie lover is that, the youth should boycott the movies of such producers who speak out without thinking their dos and donts. Supporting all this, fans have now asked the producers to apologise to her for putting her down for useless cases. She stated that, they came forward without a pre appointment and in turn disturbed her in her work. In such case, she will never apologise for the mistake, which is not of hers.
A good news for the theatre lovers. The Government is in discussion to reduce the ticket charges. K B Ganesh Kumar, the Honourable Minister for Forest and Environmet, Cinema and Sports has announced the new change in the ticket rates. There would be a cut off of Rs.2 for maintanence and of Rs.5 for reservation in case of advance booking. Along with this, the Minister has come forward with the idea of modern amenities like DTS and air conditioning the theatres all around Kerala. But the KEFA is very much dissappointed about the new declaration, as the new rule will never keep up their profits. Their response was very negative that they would even dare to close down the theatres if the rates are decreased. This profit oriented world will never allow public welfare
