UTS app

Indian Railways with a new announcement to bring joy to train passengers. Railways has removed the geofencing restrictions imposed on the UTS Mobile App which helps in booking unreserved tickets.

This means that henceforth passengers can buy general train tickets and platform tickets even sitting at home.

What is UTS App: Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) is the full form of UTS. It is a GPS-based app developed by Center for Railway Information System (CRIS) for general seat ticket booking. Railways introduced this app in 2014.

There were some distance restrictions for booking tickets on the UTS app. It was possible to book tickets through this app only from a distance of 2 km and 15 meters from the boarding station. This distance was determined using the GPS coordinates of the smartphone.

The UTS app was very useful but this remote control was a problem for many people. Now with the removal of geofencing restrictions on the UTS app by the railways, lakhs of passengers traveling in general coaches have an opportunity to book their tickets more easily.

Advantages of UTS App: The biggest advantage of this app is that you can book general tickets without standing in long queues at the station. Lakhs of users are using this app. But another reality is that there are many people who don’t know about the existence of such an app.

The benefits of the UTS app are that you can book general tickets, cancel general tickets, book platform tickets, buy and renew season tickets for different periods. This app is available on Google Play Store and Apple’s Apple Store.

The Center for Railway Information System (CRIS) informed that the Railway Board has proposed to remove the geofencing restriction on the UTS app. This decision is effective immediately. Meanwhile, the railways has maintained the internal limit for booking general tickets even as the distance limit is said to have been removed.

That means tickets can be booked through the UTS app only from a minimum of 5 meters outside the station limits. Passengers cannot book tickets through the app at the station premises or on trains. This distance is fixed to prevent ticket booking after entering restricted areas including trains.

How to book tickets through UTS app: First download and install UTS app from play store. Then register the UTS mobile app using the number after entering the personal details. Then you need to add some money to UTS app wallet.

After that, select the desired station. Then select Get Fare and pay. If paperless ticket is selected then you can show the ticket to TTR directly from your app on the train by clicking on show ticket option in the app. If the paper ticket is selected then the ticket needs to be printed.
