Fire at Hyderabad Children’s Hospital; Infant died and five children injured

Fire at Hyderabad Childrenhostpital

Hyderabad: A three-month-old baby died in a fire at a children’s hospital in Hyderabad. Five children were injured in the accident. The injured were rushed to another hospital. The fire was reported at Shine Children’s Hospital.

The accident happened around 2.30 am today. The fire was reported in the NICU of newborns. The short circuit was the cause of the accident. At the time of the accident, 42 children were in the hospital. Five of the injured children were from the NICU.

The injured children were immediately transferred to another hospital. Hospital authorities said they are in normal condition. Meanwhile, parents and relatives of the injured children staged a protest in front of the hospital. A case has been registered by the police regarding the fire at the hospital and investigating started.

Rain to continue; Orange alert today and tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: Thunderstorms and showers are likely to continue for five more days, the Meteorological Department said. Orange alert was announced on Monday and Tuesday in several districts due to heavy rains.

A yellow alert has been declared in some districts. Heavy showers or heavy rains are possible except Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

On Monday, Orange alert was issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts and yellow alert in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Kozhikode. On Tuesday, the Central Meteorological Department announced an orange alert in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A yellow alert has been declared in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.

The State Disaster Management Authority has requested residents in areas prone to landslides to be relocated as soon as they are notified by the district administration.

The heavy rainfall in the evening will cause flooding in the lowlands and landslide.

Strong winds are possible due to the low pressure in the Arabian Sea. Fishermen on Monday off the coast of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep are advised not to go to sea as the winds are likely to be 45-55 km/hr.

The Shiv Sena has expressed dissatisfaction with the BJP despite its alliance and has been approached by party dissidents who are contesting against the BJP’s official candidates. More than 3,000 candidates are contesting the election. Of these, 1007 are millionaires and 916 are accused in criminal cases.

INX Media case: Chidambaram, Peter Mukherjee, and Karthi accused

New Delhi: The CBI has filed a charge sheet in the INX Media corruption case. There are 12 accused in the case besides former union minister P Chidambaram. Chidambaram’s son Karthi Chidambaram and Peter Mukherjee are accused in the CBI charge sheet.

Apart from them, some other officials of the Finance Ministry are also on the list. P Chidambaram’s judicial custody hearing in the INX media case has been extended to October 24. The case was extended by the Enforcement Directorate. Chidambaram is currently in the CBI case of the CBI custody.
