•ANALYSIS TO DIRECTION, STORY, SCREENPLAY & DIALOGUES:
The movie is directed by the National Award winner Ram who is well known for his work like Thanga Meengal, Kattradhu Thamizh and Taramani. So this time by his film Peranbu he joins with the veteran actor Mammootty for an intense emotional family drama.
Peranbu portrays some different chapters of the life of a father and his disabled daughter so the emotions shown through it was executed by the director brilliantly. The story by the director Ram is all about the pure loving bond of a father and daughter which will definitely haunt the viewers to experience another different world of parenthood. No doubt after watching Peranbu every audience will get some hard feelings to digest but yet tormentingly beautiful.
The director Ram had brilliantly used the unique acting talents of the actor Mammootty successfully according to the story and screenplay. Importantly there were chances to create lagging when the movie tracks to the main plot but the maker had effectively won to write the screenplay to avoid tedious occurrence.
The movies directed by Ram are generally difficult to watch for the second time because of the way he treats the film by his haunting story and at the end, the film will conclude to a brilliant one time watch which can give an unforgettable experience. Like it, Peranbu also stands on a different universe of Ram movies which ranks at a high unique awesome level.
The screenplay of was having the right combined factors of sentiments, humour, sorrows, struggles emotions etc so the director had accomplished to make these elements accurately without losing the engaging grasp of the film.
The dialogues are written by the director Ram also emerged as stiff and powerful because the conversation between every character in the film was having the right and soulful momentum to create an impact which can dominate the audience to engage in the film. The dialogues in the movie were really observant and keen which can contrive the viewers to understand the feelings of the plot. The cardinality of the film focus on the life of the central character and propitiously the maker Ram had stunningly portrayed without any form of bemusing elements.
Therefore by the outstanding direction and by the incredible story of Ram makes Peranbu as one of the best movies which we can get in 2019.
•PERFORMANCE OF ACTORS:
Mammootty as Amudhavan, Anjali as Viji, Sadhana as Paapa, Anjali Ameer as Meera, Samuthirakhni, Livingston, Aruldoss, joins in the casting.
Through the character, Amudhavan actor Mammootty had once again done a remarkable performance which proved that he is still unstoppable by his class acting. No words to describe because of his bewildering acting. Mammootty’s acting definitely deserves an another National Award. His emotional scenes were touching to the heart and also the characterisation to various emotions was acted out magnificently. As a loving and caring father, Mammootty’s performance will definitely give tears to the eyes. Another career-best performance for him.
Sadhana as Paapa who played the daughter character of Mammootty did a fantastic performance. Her combination scenes with Mammootty was purely sentimental. The disabled character and its qualities were masterly acted out by her.
Anjali as Vijayalakshmi was also amazing. In fact, she was having less to perform but whatever she had she did her part flawlessly.
Anjali Ameer’s character Meera and her performance were truly wonderful. Her emotional scenes and combination scenes with actor Mammootty deserves a special mention. She is an inspiration to every individual belonging to the transexual world.
Samuthirakhni as the doctor and the actor Aruldoss did total justice to his character.
•MUSIC AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
The musical work for the movie is composed by the hitmaker Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The song ‘Anbe Anbin’ sung by Yuvan and Karthik was so melodious. The song ‘Vaanthooral’ sung by harmonious by its best lyrics. The song ‘Setthu Pocchu’ and ‘Vaanthooral’ was also tuneful with its sweet-toned tunes. Each and every song composed by Yuvan deserves a huge applause. Through the songs, the director of the film had targeted to pass out various emotions so Yuvan Shankar Raja had done outstanding compositions to make Peranbu touching.

Irupathiyonnam Noottandu Review : A movie for a one time watch
Review for Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu:
•Language: Malayalam.

•Status: 70%
•REVIEW BY: ARUNJYOTHI. R. VALIYAVEETIL.
•PROS:
1: Direction.
2: Screenplay & Dialogues
3: Cinematography
4: Performance of actors.
5: Music and BGM
•CONS:
1: Simple and predictable Story.
2: Pathetic VFX
3: Climax Actions and Stunts.
4: Art Direction.
5: Dubbing.
•ONE WORD: A movie for a one time watch.
•STORY IDEA:
The story of Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu revolves around Appu and his family who runs a homestay in Goa. His father was a gangster on his young age who leaves all the dirty games and lives peacefully with his family. A girl called Zaya enters into the life of Appu and rest of the story unfolds the various incidents occurring to him.
•ANALYSIS TO DIRECTION, STORY, SCREENPLAY & DIALOGUES:
The movie is directed by Arun Gopi after Ramaleela which was released in 2017. This time for his second film he joins with the young actor Pranav Mohanlal.
The direction of Arun Gopi for Irupathiyonnam Noottaandu was good but not great. The direction was good on an average thrilling mood with a good romantic track.
For his first movie, Arun Gopi had followed a thrilling style of making which was different and appreciated so when he comes to Irupathiyonnam Noottandu with the story written by himself he had executed the movie with his another clever mind but partially failed with the concepts which he had implemented for actions and stunts. The actions and stunt spoiled the watching experience especially when the movie touches to the climax. The stunts were moderate but the worst VFX applied to it destroyed the watching mood resulting in an unsatisfied feeling.
The story of Arun Gopi for the film was offering every component to get entertained for the viewers but like I said earlier the actions and VFX spoiled the soul of the film. The story is simple but tracks a strong presence of various emotion and current scenarios of present Kerala which was good.
The screenplay was written by the maker consisting of various elements like actions, romance, comedies, friendships, struggling’s, betrayal, etc. so all of these elements was written carefully. The situations and occurrence in the plot intersect with a crucial unexpected twist which gives a strong punch offering an expectation for the second half. The second half runs on a thrilling backdrop but when the movie reaches to the climax the entire making ranked to a down level by the below average graphics and stunts.
Coming to the dialogues the maker Arun Gopi have done an authentic and intense job because the conversations between the characters give a strong feel and presence to pass out the thrill, sentiments and mass.
The movie with its story largely focuses on the life of the central character and the different incidents on his life, therefore the maker had executed the entire film for every type of audience with the entertaining factors which turned out as a watchable romantic action thriller film.
•PERFORMANCE OF ACTORS:
Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu has the star casting of Pranav Mohanlal as a hero. The newcomer actress Zaya David handles the female lead character. Along with them Kalabhavan Shajon, Abhirav Janam, Manoj.K.Jayan, Dharamajan Bolgatty, Bijukuttan, Harish Raj, Tini Tom, Siddique and Innocent.
Pranav Mohanlal who played the central character Appu did a tremendous job. As expected his action sequences were marvellous. The grace and charisma of Pranav were terrific. His charming outlook and costumes were great. The dialogue delivery was also fine and he had improved much than the first film. The expressions for emotional sequences was impressive but the dialogues on crucial areas especially at actions were missing an impact. All in all Pranav Mohanlal makes it as a watchable flick.
The newcomer actress Zaya David as Zaya did a notable performance. She was looking gorgeous and her modern outlook was cute. The performance was also good and her combination scene with Pranav Mohanlal was romantic and noteworthy. In some areas the dubbing mismatched but she was excellent at her emotional scenes.
Abhirav Janam as Michael Rony also called as Macaroni was outstanding. He was awesome with his imposing performance. His acting with the humour touch was really entertaining.
Kalabhavan Shajohn as Abusi was superior by his outlook and performance also the negative shade in his character was good. Harish Raj’s played a crucial role which was satisfactory but the dubbing was second-rate. Manoj.K.Jayan as Baba was fantastic. As a loving and supportive father, he did a dazzling performance. The supporting roles of Siddique and Innocent were also fabulous and Bijukuttan and Dharmajan Bolgatty also did total justice to their respective characters which were entertaining. The cameo appearance of Gokul Suresh and Tini Tom was remarkable with quality acting.
•MUSIC & TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
The musical work of the movie is composed by the hitmaker Gopi Sundar. The song ‘Aaraaro Ardhramayi’ sung by Kavya Ajith and Niranj Suresh was melodious with stunning choreography. The song was really romantic with its good beats. The background score tuned by Gopi Sunder was also The BGM for the action sequences was first-class which created the ideal thrilling mode. Also, the background tunes for the crucial scenes were superlative.
The cinematography of Abinandhan Ramanujan was excellent and thrilling. The visuals he captured for the action and its various movements were amazing. Importantly the exemplary visuals of action sequences above the train were spectacular. Also, the various angles he places for the accident scenes in between the stunts were incredible. The frames of Idukki and Goa especially in the song ‘Aaraaro Ardhramayi’ was wonderful.
The editing done by Vivek Harshan was also superlative without feeling mismatches. The actions and stunts choreographed by Peter Hein were average. His choreographed actions in the climax were pathetic. The below average stunts in the movie give a totally disappointing experience. The Art Department had also done a poor work, the artwork and the set of running train were miserable. Sadly the technical division expects cinematography and editing were disappointing.
•OVERALL:
So overall Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu was felt like a half baked movie which had given me an average experience because of its worst actions and visual effects. It’s better to watch with fewer expectations and won’t disappoint for a one time watch.

Praana Movie Review : A movie which ranks at the top by its technical brilliance
Review for PRAANA:
*Language: Malayalam.
*Genre: Psychological Horror Thriller.
*Duration: 01 Hour 47 Minutes.
*Theatre: Ragam Cinemas.
*Status: 30%.
•REVIEW BY: ARUNJYOTHI. R. VALIYAVEETIL.
•PROS:
1: Direction.
2: Performance of lead actors.
3: Cinematography
4: Sound Effects.
5: Music and Background Score.
6: Technical Departments.
•CONS:
1: Story.
2: Half Baked Screenplay.
•ONE WORD: A movie which ranks at the top by its technical brilliance.
•STORY IDEA:
Praana revolves around Thara Anuradha who is a famous writer. She publishes a book called ‘Freedom Of Music’. The book describes the freedom of ladies and their own interest. The book gets controversy and she faces lots of threat. To take a break she moves to a house at a hill station. The house is haunted by a supernatural presence. She chooses the house for a visual diary for a channel. Rest of the story revolves around the haunting experiences of Thara followed by twist and turn.
•ANALYSIS TO DIRECTION, STORY, SCREENPLAY AND DIALOGUES:
The movie is directed by VK Prakash after the Careful which was released in 2017. The direction held by VK. Prakash was impressive and truly passionate. He had executed the entire movie with the authentic standard.
But sadly the story written by Rajesh Jayaraman was average because the story of the movie was having similarities to the film called ‘Moonnamathoral’ released in the year 2006 which was directed by VK. Prakash itself. The base of the story in Pranna was having a high resemblance to ‘Moonnamathoral’. The premise of the story and its twist and turn in Praana doesn’t create an impact due to this similarity. Those who had watched Moonnamathoral won’t be happy with the storyline of Praana.
An important factor in the story of Praana is that it shows the injustice against the women in the existing society. So this backdrop is strongly portrayed in the film in a thrilling mood with fears faced by the central character. The story becomes predictable from the mid and what the writer is aimed for the climax can be easily pictured. The story could have been written better by bringing out fresh concepts and also the writer was having enough areas to build something creative but nothing new was seen.
According to the story, the screenplay was also half baked. The screenplay was moderate with some couple of interesting and thrilling horror elements. But as a horror movie, the writer could have been concentrated more to bring interesting fear factors. The situations for the horror was good but nothing to get feared. Each and every time until the end was eagerly waiting to witness a different fearful horror scene but nothing spectacular was observed rather than some excellent sound effects.
If the makers were successful in bringing out new concepts in horrors the story or screenplay won’t be felt like an issue but wistfully disappointed by the writings. The social atrocities against women were genuinely portrayed by the writer but overall the story was unexciting.
Interestingly the director VK. Prakash had effectively used the acting talent of Nithya Menen. Her entire screen presence throughout the movie was superior. The making was at top class and the technical division also helped VK. Prakash to establish a top-class direction.
Coming to the dialogues the writer had done a good job. The conversations in the movie spoken by the central character were excellent. There are some strong dialogues in the movie which clearly defines the intolerance and injustice against women in our contemporary society which deserves applause.
So the direction was excellent but the repeating story and half baked screenplay made Praana as a less engaging horror film.
•PERFORMANCE OF ACTORS :
The movie Praana have only a single performer i.e, Nithya Menen.
Praana is all about the outstanding performance of Nithya Menen. From the beginning to the end Nithya Menen just stole the show. The way she handled the character ‘Thara Anuradha’ was expectational. The boldness, the affection, the fear, various emotions were characterized amazingly. For her emotional sequences, she deserves a huge thumbs up. The fear in her eyes in the horror scenes was truly astonishing. She was also cute and gorgeous and her unique way of delivering the dialogues was also superb. Like I said all in all Praana is all about Nithya Menen’s unbelievable performance.
•MUSIC AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
The musical works for Praana are composed by Louiz Banks. The song ‘Shalabhamaayi’ sung by Shilpa Raj was melodious also the opening song ‘Oru Vaakkin Mounam’ sung by Nithya Menen was good to hear. The background score tuned by Arun Vijay for the horror scenes and also the background scores for the emotional scenes were exceptional.
Thee cinematography handled by PC Sreeram was magical with beautiful frames. The beauty of Peeramade was captured intensely. Each and every frame in the opening song was glorious. His various camera angles inside the house were breathtaking. The light ups were perfect and the movements for the horror scenes were magnificent. One of the best work of PC Sreeram.
The sound effects were on a whole new thrilling level. Praana as the first movie ever to indulge the live surround synch sound format gives another wonderful feel that has never experienced before. The credit goes to the Oscar winner Resul Pookutty and also Amrit Pritam.
The editing of Sunil.S.Pillai was crisp and clear without feeling mismatches and the artwork of Bawa M and costumes of Deepali Noor was also impressive.
•OVERALL:
So overall as a psychological horror thriller, Praana doesn’t give me a complete satisfied experience because of the storyline and half-baked screenplay but the movie ranked at high by its wonderful technical brilliance. If you haven’t watched the movie ‘Moonnamathoral’ and if you love to experience a different level of surrounded synch sound format then Praana is all yours.
( For an awesome experience please do watch the movie from a theatre having 4K or 2K Projection with the best sound facility like Atmos or Barco. )

Mikhael Movie Review : A decent action family drama for a one time watch
*Language: Malayalam.
*Genre: Action Family Thriller.
*Duration: 02 Hours 30 Minutes.
*Theatre: Inox Cinemas.
*Status: 70%.
•REVIEW BY: ARUNJYOTHI. R. VALIYAVEETIL.
•PROS:
1: Direction.
2: Performance of lead actors.
3: Cinematography
4: Music & Background Score.
5: Technical Works.
•CONS:
1: Predictable Story.
2: Average Screenplay.
3: Opening Titles.
•ONE WORD: A decent action family drama for a one time watch.
•STORY IDEA:
The story of Mikhael story tells about two families. Dr John Mikheal acts as an angel to protect his family. Rest of the story describes how Mike protects his beloved sister from a family feud.
•ANALYSIS TO DIRECTION, STORY, SCREENPLAY AND DIALOGUES :
The movie is directed by Haneef Adeni after his directional debut hit movie The Great Father.
In Mikhael, he joins with the young star Nivin Pauly to establish a spectacular mass action film to entertain. A unique way of presentation and different making style was witnessed in the first movie of Haneef Adeni and the same pattern was also evident in his writing in the movies like ‘The Great Father and Abhrahaminte Santhathikal. Therefore when it comes to Mikhael his second directional movie Haneef Adeni once again followed his same making and writing style which makes the movie a decent action film.
The story is also written by himself and the plot of the movie follows the same pattern he did in his first film ‘The Great Father’. The plot of the movie strongly revolves around a teenage girl and the troubles which she faces and as a protector, the hero arrives to face and solve the upcoming situations. This was the pattern we witnessed in the first movie of Haneef Adeni. In Mikhael also the same model and way of storytelling are used but the way he executed the film with his screenplay and dialogues made Mikhael as a one time flick.
In the story, more importance is given to various emotions. The love of a brother and sister and the affection of a father and mother towards there child is portrayed intelligently. Further, the storyline moves to actions with revenge punches.
The story doesn’t offer anything new rather than family emotions followed by its revenge and gang wars. The story is predictable from the mid but the movie is engaging till the end. The way the director had written the screenplay could have been done much better because the skilful writing and the brilliance of Haneef Adeni were missing. The heroism of hero and villain couldn’t give the targeted punch to pass out the real impact. If the screenplay could have been done much better the movie could have been completely a wrote watch the film. Sadly in between the film, a sort of lagging was felt.
Importantly there were chances to create lots of confusion when the movie tracks to the main plot but the maker had done a decent job to write the screenplay but still, the writings lack the impact and punches. But still, the movie is still watchable until the end with entertaining actions. Interestingly the director had successfully used the potential of the actors like Nivin Pauly and Unni Mukudan according to the story and screenplay. The Subplots like flashbacks are also well written without making confusing.
The screenplay written by the director was having the merging elements of actions, sentiments, humour, various emotions, revenge etc, so each of these elements was written without missing the grip of the movie. The situations and incidents in the story converge with a twist and turn and by the decent making, the movie Mikhael clearly and cleanly completes its running time of nearly 150 minutes.
Moreover, the dialogues of the movie written by Haneef Adeni was extremely vivid and intense because the conversation in the movie given by the characters has the rightful and authentic feel to give out the mass.
Therefore to conclude Haneef Adeni’s direction with the stunning performance of Nivin and Unni makes Mikhael as a watchable action film.
•PERFORMANCE OF ACTORS :
Mikhael teams up with huge star casting which includes Nivin Pauly and Unni Mukudan playing the central characters. Manjima Mohan plays the main female lead following with the actors like Siddhique, Sudev Nair, Suraj Venjaramood, Babu Antony, JD Chakravarthy, Kalabhavan Shajon, Renji Panicker, Ashokan, K.P.A.C Lalitha and Shanthikrishna.
Nivin Pauly as Dr John Mikhael gives an another best performance. As a hero, the way he acted out was having a genuine depth. His seriousness and boldness on the character were superb. The emotional scenes were also great. He also did a great job on his action sequences. Overall in the performance of Nivin as Dr John Mikhael, a profound quality was witnessed.
Unni Mukudan as Marcho Jr was delivered a ravishing performance. As a villain, he was amazing to portray his negative shade character. He was stylish on his outlook and the action sequences he performs was glaring. Unni had maintained the intensity of a villain perfectly throughout the movie.
Manjima Mohan as Mary was not having much to perform but still did a good job.
Siddique as Geroge Peter was fantastic. The way he handled the emotional scenes were really sentimental. Moreover, he portrayed the different shades in his character amazingly.
Suraj Venjaramood as Issac shines by his remarkable performance. Sudev Nair as Francis Davi was also good with his outlook and stunts. Ashokan as Antony and JD Chakravarthy as Muhammad Issac did a notable performance.
K.P.A.C Lalitha as Mariam and Shanthikrishna as Ancy also did total justice to their respective characters. Babu Antony also did a good cameo appearance.
•MUSIC AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
The musical work of Mikhael is composed by the hitmaker Gopi Sundar. The song ‘Novinte’ sung by Sithara Krishnakumar was melodious with touching emotional lyrics written by the lyricist Harinarayanan. The Background Score tuned by Gopi Sundar was terrific to produce the right impact to build heroism for the central characters. The BGM for the action sequences was sturdy and also for emotional sequences the tunes were having the sentimental feel. Gopi Sundar once again proved his excellence in making the well-built background scores.
The cinematography is handled by the Vishnu Panicker who had amazingly captured the action shots and its frames. The various camera movements for actions and the dark shades of frames was captured brilliantly. The shots in the rain were also impressive. The editing of Mahesh Narayanan was perfect with right cuts without feeling any mismatches. The action choreographer and art department also deserves big applause. Also, a big thumbs to the costumer Stephy Zaviour for bringing out the best and stunning wardrobes.
•OVERALL :
So to conclude the movie Mikhael had given me an average experience by its half baked story and screenplay but overall the movie is a decent action family drama which can be a good choice for a one time watch.
•VERDICT: AVERAGE
•RATING: 2.5/5.
