Washington: NASA says it has discovered a Vikram lander that crashed on the Lunar surface during India’s Chandrayaan-2 mission. NASA has announced that it has landed a satellite for NASA’s lunar mission. NASA has also released a picture of the lander’s remains, which was copied by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). On July 22, 2019, Chandrayaan 2 flew aboard the GSLV MK3-M1 rocket from Sriharikota. The moon entered orbit on August 20th. Lander was separated from Orbiter on 2 September.

Soft Landing was expected at 1.55 am on September 7. The orbiter of Chandrayaan 2 lost its connection with Vikram Lander at a height of 2.1 km above the lunar surface during the end of the soft landing attempt. The debris is located in about 24 places within a few kilometers of the Moon’s the South Pole.

The LRO had moved several times over the region where Vikram Lander had fallen several times since September but in their preliminary analysis, no detailed information was available about the Vikram Lander. NASA estimated that the lander’s vision was unclear because it fell between the shadows at the Moon’s the South Pole.
