Mammootty’s new movie Shylock hit theaters tomorrow. The big wait for the fans is coming to an end tomorrow. The film’s online booking is getting a good response. The film also stars Meena, Rajkiran, Bibin George, Baiju, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajon, Harish Kanaran, and John Vijay.

The film is directed by Ajay Vasudev. Scripted by debutants Aneesh Hameed and Bibin  Mohan. The film was produced by Joby George under the banner of Goodwill Entertainment. The movie will be screened in over 200 theaters.

No stay to CAA, Says Supreme Court

New Delhi: No stay to citizenship amendment act, Supreme Court said. The Chief Justice verbally stated that neither the Citizenship Act nor the NPR can stay. The Chief Justice said there were other problems in Assam and elsewhere in the country about the amendment of the citizenship law. Therefore, the petitions in Assam will be considered separately. The Chief Justice said that the pleas from Tripura would also be considered.

The Supreme Court has given the Center four weeks to respond to the petition challenging the citizenship amendment. The Center told the apex court that it had to respond to 80 petitions. Attorney General K K Venugopal demanded six weeks to answer the plea.

Chief Justice S.A Bobde, a three-judge bench comprising Justices Abdul Nasir and Sanjeev Khanna heard the case. There are 140 petitioners against the amendment of citizenship law. Kapil Sibal, appearing for the petitioners, urged the Center not to ask for a stay and the Center should not enforce the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said the court’s approach is hopeful. He added that the Constitutional Bench references the hope that the public will not be disappointed. Leaders like Ramesh Chennithala were present in court to hear the legal proceedings.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Health Department has issued a caution in the wake of coronavirus spreading in China. The Health Minister KK Shailaja directed departments to strengthen surveillance at airports in Kerala.

Those who have returned to China should contact the respective District Medical Officer. If you notice any signs of illness, you will be monitored separately. The minister said health department officials have been instructed to take stringent measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

The decision of the state government will be finalized only if the Central Government approves it. The government will seek a clarification from Jacob Thomas on this. The departmental inquiry came to light, including the book being written without the permission of the government.

Jacob Thomas is the most senior IPS officer in the state. He is to retire from service on May 31. This is the first time a top official in the state has been degraded.

New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday announced its second list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. The list of 10 candidates is out. The deadline for filing nominations was released on Tuesday morning.

Sunil Yadav, president of the Yuva Morcha, is contesting the New Delhi constituency against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajindrapal Singh and Manish Singh were also named in the second list. Sumanlata Shokeen, Ravindra Chaudhary, Kusum Kathri and Anil Goyal are also among the candidates.

In the first phase, the BJP has fielded 57 candidates. Reports say that the remaining three seats in the 70-member constituency will be given to the LJP, the JD (U) and the Shiromani Akali Dal. On Monday, Akali Dal had said that there would be no election with the NDA in protest of the amendment of the citizenship law.

Geneva: World Health Organization (WHO) has called an emergency meeting as an unknown virus spreads in China. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday. A virus similar to SARS is also spreading outside China.
