New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal has quit the NDA. Earlier, Akali Dal’s Union Minister Harsimrat Badal has resigned in protest of the government’s move. The Akali Dal had announced that it would leave the front if the farm bills were not reconsidered. The decision to leave the Front came amid a sharp rise in farmers’ agitation over the bills.
Legendary singer S.P. Balasubramaniam’s funeral was held at his Red Hills farmhouse in Thiruvallur. The funeral held Saturday at his farmhouse at Thamarappakkam in Tiruvallur district, 50 km from Chennai.
The singer, whose voice enchanted Indian cinema and music lovers over the last fifty years, was honored with a 72-gun salute by the Tamil Nadu police. Many people, including actor Vijay, came to pay their last respects to the beloved singer. The funeral was with full official honors. His son Charan Balasubramaniam performed the last rites.
Earlier, it was announced that the function would end at 11 a.m., but due to the rush of mourners, the function was delayed.Veteran director Bharathiraja, who was also at the hospital last evening, attended the funeral and, so did singer Mano. Music composer Devi Sri Prasad and comedian Mayilsami were also part of S P Balasubrahmanyam’s funeral.

Chennai: Legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam has passed away. He was 74 years old. He died at the MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai. He was accompanied by his son SP Charan, sister and singer SP Shailaja and director Bharathi Raja at the hospital at the time of his death.
He was hospitalized for days. The death occurred at 1.04pm. On August 13, SPB’s oxygen levels in the body dropped. He was then admitted to the intensive care unit. The ventilator provided assistance. He subjected to plasma therapy. Later, on September 19, his son SP Charan said that his health had improved. New Delhi: The agitation against the Agriculture Bill is intensifying in northern India. Farmers protest in the streets of Punjab and Haryana and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Farmers blocked highways. The tractor was put in the streets and blocked by farmers. The farmers’ agitation started this morning against the three bills that will become law with the signing of the President.
Opposition parties like Congress, DMK, Aam Aadmi Party, RJD, and Trinamool Congress are supporting the farmers’ protest. Dozens of unions are participating in the agitation.

Bangalore: Four Keralites were killed in a road accident in Yellapur, North Karnataka. Patmakshi Amma (86) from Tripunithura, her children Harindranath Nair (62), Rabindranath Nair (58) and Rabindranath’s wife Pushpa R. Nair, 54, died in the accident.
The accident happened at 6 am yesterday. The Maruti Ignis car they were traveling in collided with a lorry. All four died at the scene. The car is completely wrecked.

Kochi: The CBI will probe the controversies related to the Life Mission contract. The CBI has registered a case in connection with the Red Crescent scam. The CBI has filed a case in a special CBI court in Kochi. The CBI had earlier started collecting preliminary information related to the project.
The state government reached an agreement with the Red Crescent on July 11, 2019 to build 140 flats on 2.17 acres. As agreements with foreign countries are included in the Central List, the MoU requires the approval of the Center. Neither the Consulate nor the construction company Unitak has the authority to enter into contracts without central approval.
Under the subsection of the MoU, the construction contractor is to be selected by the State Government and the Red Crescent. However, the MoU and the rules were subverted and the construction contract was awarded to Unitak. The agreement was signed by the Consulate General and the unit. Anil Akkara MLA lodged a complaint with the CBI SP at the Kochi unit alleging corruption in the Life Mission project. The complaint alleges that the agreement with the Red Crescent was illegal.

The great poet Akkitham was presented with the Jnanpith award. Akkitham is the sixth Malayalee to win the award. The Jnanpith award was presented by Minister AK Balan at his residence in Kumaranellur. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the award ceremony via video conference.
The award recognizes Akkitham’s outstanding contribution to the language, which has left its mark on various literary genres. The Jnanpith will cost Rs 11 lakh and a Saraswati sculpture. The poet received the award at the age of 93. Akkitham, a native of Kumaranalloor, Palakkad, is a poet who has contributed more than 40 works to Malayalam.
