New Delhi: Pakistan also bans Tik Tok, China’s popular app. The Pak government has banned the video-sharing app of the Chinese company ByteDance, based on a complaint that it is spreading pornographic videos.
India had earlier canceled more than 100 Chinese applications, including TikTok, for national security reasons. Pakistan announced in an official statement. The official explanation is that the Pakistan Telecom Authority has blocked the Chinese application Tiktok in the wake of numerous complaints from various sections of the society. Pakistan has said that security is not Pakistan’s problem and that it has taken steps to protect its culture. Pakistan has told China that it will reconsider the Telecommunications Authority’s (PTA) decision if the application is improved.
Pakistan’s Information Technology Minister Shibli Faraj has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has not spoken to China on the issue. He said the app was banned because it spreads pornography rather than data security.
