The CBI has taken up the case of a Dalit girl who was gang-raped to death in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened on the 14th of last month. The girl who went to collect the grass with her mother was the victim of gang rape. Four members of the upper caste were behind the incident. Sandeep, Ramu, Lovekush, and Ravi were arrested by the police. The negligence shown by the police in the case was being questioned from the very beginning.

The girl later died on September 29 at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The girl’s body was rushed to the police station and cremated without the consent of her relatives. This also led to controversy. Authorities later blocked opposition leaders from visiting the girl’s home. The girl’s family also said that they had received threats from the authorities there.

Following the national controversy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that he would leave the CBI probe into the case. Following this, the CBI took over the case. The case was being investigated by a special investigation team.
