Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh police transferred more than 500 cops in the wake of the hooch tragedy in the state. More than 540 police personnel posted at the lease station have been relocated. Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani said that 148 of them were relocated outside of districts.

Five police inspectors suspected of links to the liquor mafia and two station house employees and a circle officer were suspended. Police intensified the inquiry in this regard. The relatives of the hooch mafia head Rishi Sharma were arrested, SSP said.

The ED has started a preliminary inquiry into the Kodakara hawala case

Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate has collected information from the ED police as part of the preliminary investigation in the Kodakara hawala case. The investigation details of the case were also examined.

The police investigation is at an early stage. The ED said it would work with the police. The ED said it had not yet been able to determine whether the hawala case had foreign links.

The petitioner contended in the High Court that an enforcement inquiry was necessary to find the source of the black money and that the ED should be directed to conduct an inquiry.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that additional restrictions will be imposed to reduce the Covid test positivity rate in the state. The Chief Minister said in a press release that such restrictions would be imposed from June 5 to 9.

Currently licensed outlets may operate on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. They will not have a work permit from June 5 to June 9.

Only shops selling essential goods, raw materials for industrial establishments (including packaging) and shops selling construction materials will be allowed to operate from June 5 to 9. Waste real estate companies may reopen on June 4.

People with travel permits within the state (including delivery agents) are not required to carry a Covid Negative Certificate. Only those coming from outside the state should keep such certificates.

Covid deaths are currently being confirmed at the state level. It will be considered at the district level. The CM said that doctors should determine the exact criteria for which category of death.

Covaxin; Clinical trial began in children

New Delhi: The clinical trial of Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech has started in children. The clinical trials are being conducted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna. On May 11, the Drugs Controller of India, Bharat Biotech, gave the go-ahead for testing the vaccine on children.

Two- and three-stage clinical trials were approved for children aged 2 to 18 years. India launched the vaccine campaign on January 26 this year. In the first phase, the vaccine was given to health workers. Currently, the vaccine is approved in the country for people over 18 years of age.

Lockdown in Karnataka extended till June 14
