Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that additional restrictions will be imposed to reduce the Covid test positivity rate in the state. The Chief Minister said in a press release that such restrictions would be imposed from June 5 to 9.

Currently licensed outlets may operate on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. They will not have a work permit from June 5 to June 9.

Only shops selling essential goods, raw materials for industrial establishments (including packaging) and shops selling construction materials will be allowed to operate from June 5 to 9. Waste real estate companies may reopen on June 4.

Government and quasi-government institutions, public sector undertakings, corporations and commissions will be 50 per cent staffed from June 10. Earlier it was scheduled for June 7.

People with travel permits within the state (including delivery agents) are not required to carry a Covid Negative Certificate. Only those coming from outside the state should keep such certificates.

Covid deaths are currently being confirmed at the state level. It will be considered at the district level. The CM said that doctors should determine the exact criteria for which category of death.

In the event of a third wave, countermeasures were initiated. Normal level of vigilance should be maintained. Be careful not to get crowded. Guest workers will be fully vaccinated. Arrangements will be made to check them from time to time. The entire population of the panchayats bordering other states will be vaccinated. The change in symptoms will be monitored. Genetic studies will also be conducted.

Permission will be given to cut down old rubber trees and plant new rubber seedlings. Workers who remove waste will also be given work permits.

Caution should be exercised if covid positive is noticed in the flats. The notice board should inform which flat is infected. This is to ensure vigilance. Municipal / Panchayat authorities should be informed at health centers and police stations. These responsibilities must be carried out by the resident associations in the respective flats. The CM also said that the lifts in the flats should be sanitized at least three times a day.
