One dies in a fire that broke out in a shop in Thripunithura

Kochi: A man died after a fire broke out in a shop in Tripunithura. According to reports, the fire broke out at a furniture store in Pettah. The deceased has not been identified. The body is being kept at Tripunithura Taluk Hospital. Firefighters arrived and brought the fire under control. The preliminary conclusion is that the accident was caused by a short circuit.

Heavy rains in Kozhikode ; Camps were opened at four places in the district

As the rains continue to be heavy in the state, the rainfall will also intensify. Many parts of North Kerala were inundated. In Kozhikode, houses were flooded in many places. Mavoor Road was also flooded. Relief camps opened in Kozhikode taluk.

North Kerala has been receiving heavy rains since the last day. Kozhikode city traffic police said that many roads in Kozhikode city are flooded and there is a severe traffic jam.

Camps were opened at four places in Kozhikode taluk. The villages of Puthiyangadi, Pantheerankavu, Nellikode, Kachcheri, Chevayur, Valayanad, and Vengeri received the highest rainfall. The camp was set up for the people here who could not go to their family homes. The hilly areas of the district also receive heavy rainfall.

Shops in Ambalathkulangara and Kumarasamy were flooded. The water level in the Poonur river has risen. Widespread landslides occurred in Mavoor and Chathamangalam. An auto and two two-wheelers crashed into the wall of a house in Chathamangalam South Arayankode.  The protective wall on the roof of the Panangode house also collapsed. Rains continue in the hilly region of Kannur.

The water level in Kakuva, Cheenkanni and rivers in Kannur Aralam has risen. Blocks 13 and 55 of Aralam Farm were isolated as the Kakuva Chapath bridge overflowed. It is suspected that the landslide occurred in the Aralam forest area. As heavy rains continue in Kodagu forest, caution has been issued to the riverine residents in the border areas of Kannur. Rainfall in Wayanad Mananthavady and Vaithiri taluks. Kasargod: Despite low rainfall, vigilance has been issued. A yellow alert has been issued in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Nedumudi Venu (73), who gifted the Malayalee with brilliant moments of rhythmic acting on stage and Abhrapali, has passed away. He died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram around 1:30 p.m., Monday. Wife: Susheela. Children: Unni and Kannan.

He was born on May 22, 1948 in Nedumudi, Alappuzha to PK Kesava Pillai and P Kunjikuttyamma. He was educated at Kottaram NSUP School, Chambakkulam St. Mary’s High School, and Alappuzha SD College. While studying for his undergraduate degree at SD College, Alappuzha, he became active in the field of drama through plays written by his classmate Fazil.

The acquaintance with the playwright Kavalam Narayana Panicker was a turning point.
He then brought the main characters to life in many socially acclaimed plays such as Divathar and Avanavan Kadamba. In the meantime, he became a parallel college teacher and journalist. Kollam: Sooraj, the accused in the Uthra murder case is the culprit, the court said. The court found the accused Sooraj guilty in the Uthra murder case. The verdict was delivered by Kollam Sixth Additional Sessions Court Judge M Manoj. Uthra’s father and brother had come to the court to hear the verdict.

Vijayasenan’s daughter Uthra (25) was bitten by a snake on the night of May 6, 2020, in Anchal Eram ‘Vishu’ (Vellassery). She was found dead at 7 p.m. Uthra’s parents have complained to the police.

 The case was handed over to the District Crime Branch. The investigation was based on the collection of scientific evidence in a case where there were no witnesses. Uthra’s post-mortem report, the post-mortem report of the bitten snake, chemical test results, forensic examination of mobile phones, and dummy test were conducted.

The trial in the case, which was filed on August 14 last year, was also expedited. The prosecution alleges that Uthra was killed by her husband Sooraj after being bitten by a snake. 87 witnesses were examined. The prosecution produced 288 documents and 40 bribes in court. The scientific evidence found through the dummy experiment is also crucial.

The charges include conspiracy to commit murder (302), attempted murder (307), aggravated assault (326), and the Wildlife Act (115). Sooraj bought the snake from Kalluvatukkal Chavarukavu Suresh, an apologist in the case and a snake catcher. Uthra murder case paves a new chapter in forensic science.

The case led to a study of animal slaughter. The distance between the teeth when the snake bites naturally and the distance between the teeth when bitten by force. Despite constructive proposals from the Indian Army to resolve the issues, China refused to accept them. China has also said it will not accept India’s offer. The Indian Army said in a statement that the talks had ended without a decision. During the talks, the two countries agreed to maintain communication.

The statement added that China hopes to take into account the overall outlook on bilateral relations, fully comply with bilateral agreements and conventions and work to resolve any remaining issues sooner rather than later. The Chinese military said that India was making irrational and unrealistic demands, which made the talks difficult, and that the talks had failed. The talks between India and China lasted for about eight and a half hours. During the talks, India had earlier called for the deployment of Chinese troops in the remaining conflict areas in eastern Ladakh. The talks started at 10:30 am and ended at 7 pm.

Sero survey results out; Antibody is present in 82.6 percent of persons above 18 in the state

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has released the results of the Sero survey in the state. The study, which examined 13,336 samples in six categories, was tabled in the Assembly on Monday. The Sero Survey found that 82.6 percent of people over the age of 18 in the state have covid antibodies.

40.2% of children have antibody presence. Antibody prevalence was 65.4% in women up to 49 years of age, 87.7% in coastal areas, and 85.3% in slums. In the tribal areas, 78.2 people over the age of 18 have antibodies.

Prior to the opening of the school, the study was conducted among people from a different zone. Experts say it is a good sign that more than 40 percent of students have achieved immunity power when the school reopens.

The study was categorized into coastal areas, cities, villages, and slums. Children over the age of five were also included in the study. Vaccination has been found to be an important component of prevention. This is the first time that Kerala has conducted its own Sero Survey. The Sero survey conducted by ICMR found that Kerala has a resistance capacity of 42.7 percent.

Thiruvananthapuram: Power Minister Krishnankutty said that there is no load shedding or power cut in the state for the time being.
The minister was responding during a meeting called to discuss the impact of the energy crisis in the country on the state.

At present, Rs 2 crore is required to buy electricity. The minister said the crisis would intensify if it fell below 400 megawatts.

Earlier, the minister had said that there was a sharp decline in the supply of electricity to Kerala from outside as the country was facing a severe coal shortage.

Consumers should use electricity carefully from 6.30 pm to 11 pm during peak hours. He warned that appliances such as heaters, mixers, electric ovens, electric irons, and washing machines, which require more electricity, should be used as efficiently as possible.

Another clash in Jammu and Kashmir; Two terrorists killed

Srinagar: Police tweeted that clashes continue in Bandipora and Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. Two terrorists were killed in two separate incidents.  One person was killed in Bandipora. The clash started on Monday morning. The search is still ongoing.

Imtiaz Ahmed Dar, an activist of ‘The Resistance Front, was killed, police said. The Kashmir IG said Imtiaz was involved in the killing of civilians in Bandipora. The next clash took place in Anantnag district. The armed movement began at 2.30 am. A policeman was injured in the incident. The clash took place in the same area on Saturday.

Several civilians were shot dead by militants in Kashmir this month. About 700 people have been taken into police custody in connection with the case. Two school teachers were killed in the attack. Police said the victims belonged to different religions.
