Thirteen terrorists killed in nine clashes in Jammu and Kashmir; Security forces say 120 terrorists have been killed so far this year

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police IGP Vijay Kumar has said that 13 militants have been killed in nine encounters so far in Jammu and Kashmir. Police claimed to have destroyed three of the five terror cells in Srinagar in 24 hours.

So far this year, 120 militants have been killed in various clashes with security forces, he said. Earlier this month, four militants were killed in the clashes, which killed four locals. Clashes between the militants and security forces began on the 8th of this month. One terrorist was killed in the Chanpora area of Srinagar. As a result, two terrorists each were killed in Kokernag and Bandipora in Anantnag on the 10th and 11th of this month.

Five terrorists were killed in twin clashes in Shopian on the 12th of this month. At thirteen Jaish commander, Sham Sophie was killed in the Tral area. In the last 24 hours, security forces have killed four militants in three clashes in Pulwama, Srinagar, and Pampore.

The clash started at around 2 am yesterday in the Dragbal area of Pampore. Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Omar Mushtaq Khande killed. Another terrorist was killed along with him. Umar Mushtaq killed two policemen. Policemen Mohammad Yusuf and Suhail Ah were killed.

Uttarakhand: Heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand tomorrow. Red Alert announced. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast that the rains will continue till the next day. Schools in the state will be closed tomorrow due to the possibility of heavy rains.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhomi has requested the pilgrims to postpone the Chardham Yatra for two days. Based on the warning, trekking into the forest area Nanda Devi, which is part of the Biosphere Reserve has been banned.

Pilgrims were also directed to move to a safer place to visit the Badrinath Temple. The government has directed them to return to Joshimath and Pandkeshwar until the weather improves.

Singh murder: Two more Nihangs arrested; Four people have been arrested so far

New Delhi: Two more people have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a Dalit youth at a farmers’ strike venue on the Singh border. Bhagwant Singh and Govind Singh, both from Nihang, were arrested by Haryana police. Four Nihangs were arrested in connection with the incident. Two members of the Nihang faction had been arrested earlier in the incident. Sarabjit Singh was the first to be arrested.

He was produced in Sonipat court and remanded by the court. Another man, Narayan Singh, was arrested on Saturday. He was arrested from Amarkot district in Punjab. A Dalit youth was brutally killed after cutting off both his hands at a farmers’ strike in Kundali. He was later hanged at a police barricade. Following the controversy, the Joint Kisan Morcha came to the scene accusing the Nihangs of being behind the killings. Balwinder Singh, the head of the Nihang organization, had said that the killings were carried out for insulting their holy book.

Heavy rain: Extra caution during epidemics

Health Minister Veena George has directed the health department to be vigilant as heavy rains continue in various districts. A meeting of the district medical officers was convened yesterday under the chairmanship of the minister to assess the preparations.

The Minister directed the Director of Health and the Director of Health Education to ensure that hospitals are ready to deal with emergencies. Special treatment facilities will be provided in hospitals if required.

Adequate medication is guaranteed. Covid protocol must be followed in the camps. Those with symptoms will be relocated. Antigen testing will be done at the camps if necessary. The Department of Health has already issued guidelines in this regard. The Minister said that the activities of the health department should be carried out as per these guidelines.

As the rains continue, there is a risk of contagious diseases. Extra care is needed to prevent contagion during covid. Personal hygiene and environmental hygiene are very important. Special care should be taken not to mix sewage with freshwater during the monsoon. If not taken care of, waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, jaundice, typhoid, and cholera can spread.
Doxycycline tablets should be taken by people, including volunteers who come in contact with sewage. Complications and death can be avoided by ensuring treatment as soon as the symptoms of leptospirosis appear, the Minister said.

Heavy rains in Kerala: Red alert in five districts, rivers overflowing, landslides in many places

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains continue in southern Kerala. The rivers overflowed at several places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts. Many roads were flooded.

In Poonjar south, a record amount of rain fell in one hour. Many roads here were flooded. Water flooded the foothills of Peringulam.

Travel to Erumeli Mundakayam was banned due to floods at mile 26 of Kanjirapally. Traffic on Devikulam Gap Road has been banned in Idukki.

The Meteorological Department has issued a Red Alert in five districts of the state. A red alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur districts.

Meanwhile, Revenue Minister K Rajan said the government and local bodies are ready to face any disaster. The government has completed all the preparations to deal with the disaster areas and the problems that may still arise here, based on the Orange Book released with the lessons learned from the 2018 flood disaster. Minister K Rajan said that at this time, politics, caste, and religion should be forgotten and everyone should stand together.

Sabarimala to open today; Darshan from tomorrow via Virtual queue

Srinagar: Two soldiers were martyred in a clash at Menthar Narhas forest in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch region on Thursday.
The search by security officials continues in the Mentor forest area. The Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri National Highway has been temporarily closed. Meanwhile, security forces killed two militants in clashes in Pulwama and Srinagar.

Security forces on Thursday evening conducted a search operation in Menter in the Poonch-Rajouri forest area following a tip-off that terrorists were present.

The terrorists were firing at the troops. A junior commissioned officer and a soldier were killed in the ensuing crash. It is learned that there are about five terrorists in the group.

Shahid Basir Sheikh, a terrorist from Srinagar, was killed in a clash in the Wahibug area of the Pulwama district yesterday. The IG said he was part of a group that recently killed civilians in Kashmir.

He was also involved in the October 2 assassination of a PDP official.

Meanwhile, a terrorist was killed in Beminaya in Srinagar, but clashes between police and militants continue.

The Central Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in the Thiruvananthapuram district due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. District Collector Navjot Khosa said an orange alert was issued in the district today due to the warning.

The district collector said that due to the risk of landslides and mudslides in the hilly areas, travel to the Ponmudi tourist area has been banned till further notice.

Idukki: The district collector has been directed to suspend outdoor works due to heavy rains and landslides in the district and the possibility of falling trees. Kayaking operations and boating for tourism should be stopped immediately in the district.

Workers should also stop working in the plantation areas as there is a risk of tree felling due to heavy rains. The district collector also said that the existing night travel ban in the district has been extended till October 20.

As heavy rains continue in the district, there is a possibility of flooding in urban and low-lying areas. Taluk level officials and the public have been directed to take precautionary measures in this regard.
The risk of landslides, mudslides, and floods is high. This requires pre-preparation.

The KSEB, Irrigation, and KWA Departments were directed to ensure compliance with the rule curves of the dams and to make preparations in advance for small dams. Rising water levels in rivers require special monitoring.

Disaster prevention and response activities in the district should be planned following the guideline ‘Orange Book 2021’ of the State Disaster Management Authority.

People will be relocated in advance at the required stages. The operation of the camps must comply with the rules in the context of the covid 19 epidemic. Taluk control rooms and district control rooms are set up 24 * 7 hours a day under the leadership of Deputy Tehsildar.
