The farmer’s ‘Rail Roko’ agitation demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra has intensified. Nationwide, farmers blockaded the train for 6 hours. About 50 trains were blocked by farmers in northern India.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha said the strike would continue till the farmers get justice. Farmers across the country blockaded the railways demanding strong action against the culprits in the Lakhimpur massacre.

The strike was called by farmers’ organizations demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra. Farmers across the country blocked the train from 10 am to 4 pm.

‘Rail roko’ agitation intensified in states including Punjab and Haryana. About 50 trains were blocked by farmers at 130 places on the Northern Railway. About 90 trains were partially halted. 23 trains were suspended and other trains were diverted. A ban has been announced in Lucknow following the farmers’ strike.

While Ajay Mishra remains in the ministry, the farmers are intensifying their agitation by pointing out that a proper investigation into the Lakhimpur massacre will not take place. The farmers have stated that the Mahapanchayat will join Varanasi and Lucknow in the coming days.

The Supreme Court will reconsider the Lakhimpur case on October 20. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha said the strike would continue till the farmers get justice.

Bangalore: A decision has been taken to reduce petrol and diesel taxes in Karnataka. According to Bassavaraj Bomme government’s cess tax and sales tax will be reduced. At the same time, the amount was not disclosed. Government sources said an announcement would be made soon in this regard.

Petrol price in Karnataka is above Rs 109 per liter. Diesel costs more than Rs 100 per liter. In this case, Congress wants to reduce the fuel tax. The parties in question were the ones who wanted it.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police IGP Vijay Kumar has said that 13 militants have been killed in nine encounters so far in Jammu and Kashmir. Police claimed to have destroyed three of the five terror cells in Srinagar in 24 hours.

So far this year, 120 militants have been killed in various clashes with security forces, he said. Earlier this month, four militants were killed in the clashes, which killed four locals. The clash started at around 2 am yesterday in the Dragbal area of Pampore. Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Omar Mushtaq Khande killed. Another terrorist was killed along with him. Umar Mushtaq killed two policemen. Policemen Mohammad Yusuf and Suhail Ah were killed. 

Uttarakhand: Heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand tomorrow. Red Alert announced. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast that the rains will continue till the next day. Schools in the state will be closed tomorrow due to the possibility of heavy rains.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhomi has requested the pilgrims to postpone the Chardham Yatra for two days. Based on the warning, trekking into the forest area Nanda Devi, which is part of the Biosphere Reserve has been banned.

Pilgrims were also directed to move to a safer place to visit the Badrinath Temple. The government has directed them to return to Joshimath and Pandkeshwar until the weather improves.

New Delhi: Two more people have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a Dalit youth at a farmers’ strike venue on the Singh border. Bhagwant Singh and Govind Singh, both from Nihang, were arrested by Haryana police. Four Nihangs were arrested in connection with the incident. Two members of the Nihang faction had been arrested earlier in the incident. Sarabjit Singh was the first to be arrested.

He was produced in Sonipat court and remanded by the court. Another man, Narayan Singh, was arrested on Saturday. He was arrested from Amarkot district in Punjab. A Dalit youth was brutally killed after cutting off both his hands at a farmers’ strike in Kundali. He was later hanged at a police barricade. Following the controversy, the Joint Kisan Morcha came to the scene accusing the Nihangs of being behind the killings. Balwinder Singh, the head of the Nihang organization, had said that the killings were carried out for insulting their holy book.
