Thiruvananthapuram:  KSRTC Gramavandi service started. KSRTC has implemented the Gramavandi in collaboration with local bodies. Gram Panchayat-sponsored Gramavandi was launched for the first time in Kolla, Parassala in the Thiruvananthapuram district.
Manchavilakam, Ambalam, Kodumkara, Panayamula via Dhanuvachapuram. This is the route of gramavandi of gram panchayat in Kolla. KSRTC’s Gramavandi service is focused on areas with fewer public transport facilities, rural areas, and socially backward areas. In Kolla, Minister MV Govindan inaugurated the state level of the master project through Gramavandi sponsored by the Gram Panchayat.
Services that do not generate income even for the cost of fuel to the interior areas are being converted into gramavandi services. The local bodies will ensure diesel, staff accommodation, and parking security for the buses running this service. KSRTC will bear the cost of the vehicle, staff salaries, maintenance, spare parts, and insurance. Gramavandi services will start in Malappuram, Thrissur, and Alappuzha in August.

Kochi: Vlogger Sooraj Palakkaran has surrendered in the case of insulting women. Suraj Palakkaran surrendered at Ernakulam South Police Station. The High Court had rejected Suraj’s anticipatory bail application a few days ago. The High Court clarified that the cases filed under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes sections will stand. Suraj Palakkaran was granted anticipatory bail in the case of insulting a young woman who had filed a complaint against Crime Nandakumar.

The complaint received against Suraj Palakaran was that he spoke abusively to the young woman and made casteist remarks. A case was also registered against Sooraj on the complaint of a native of Adimali who filed a complaint against Crime Online Managing Director TP Nandakumar. Suraj made a bad remark about the woman who had filed a complaint against TP Nandakumar and filmed the video. Following this, the woman lodged a complaint. The case was filed under the non-bailable section of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act.

Thiruvananthapuram:  Trial Allotment for this year’s Plus One admission in the state has been published. Check the list at www.admission.dge.kerala.gov.in. Verification and correction should be done before 5 pm on 31st. The first allotment will be published on August 3.
It was initially announced that the trial allotment would be published on the 28th, but due to some technical hurdles, it was shifted to today. Things are progressing as the classes start on August 22. The higher secondary admission process has been delayed due to the late arrival of CBSE and ICSE students’ 10th class examination results.

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V Sivankutty has announced the date of Onam exam, which was absent in the state for the last two years due to Corona.

The date of the first term examination in schools has been announced. The exam will be held from August 24 to September 2. After that, the school will close on September 3 and reopen on September 12, the minister said.

The government yesterday issued an order specifying the time schedule for higher secondary admissions in the state. As part of this, plus one trial allotment will be held on July 28. The first allotment list will be published on August 3.

‘ED can raid, arrest, confiscate property’; Supreme Court upheld important powers

New Delhi: The Supreme Court upheld the important powers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court dismissed the petitions challenging the broad powers of the ED.

The apex court upheld the ED’s powers to search, arrest and seize property at any suspected location.

The landmark verdict was delivered by a division bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justices Dinesh Maheshwari and CT Ravi Kumar after hearing detailed arguments on 242 petitions filed against the powers of the Enforcement Directorate.

The Court upheld the constitutionality of Section 5, Section 8 (4), Section 15, Section 17, Section 19 and Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PML Act). The judgment upholding Section 45 related to bail states that the onus is on the accused to prove that the allegations leveled by the ED are false and the accused should produce evidence if he is arrested.

The court pointed out that the ED’s ECIR (Informant First Information Report) related to the case is an important document and is equivalent to an FIR. ECIR is not to be given to the accused. Just enter the information in ECIR. The three-judge bench also clarified that if the accused is imprisoned, the accused can demand the document through the court.

35 kg of ganja seized in Thodupuzha; One person was arrested

Idukki: Accused in several cases arrested with 35 kg ganja in Thodupuzha, Idukki. Police arrested Vishnu alias Vadiwal Kannan. The police said that they will intensify the investigation into the smuggling of ganja through Idukki.

The accused was caught with 35 kg of dried ganja during a special investigation conducted on the instructions of the district police chief. The police have decided to conduct a detailed investigation into the smuggling of cannabis through Idukki. It is found that a big lobby including Malayalis is working in the incident. The investigation will also include the means used to bring such a large collection to the city. The police said that the inspection will be stricter in the coming days.
